Shiny bell, I missed you!

What was the original nickname for Aragorn before Tolkien changed it into 'Strider'?

"Trotter" (HoME passim)
a name with unfortunate connotations these days in the UK..

re: The Revised Tolkien Trivia

Sorry about the consecutive posts...

Further to my last answer....as HoME is not one of the allowable sources,
Trotter=Aragorn is also in the Letters, note 2 to No 83 - to Christopher Tolkien.

Sorry about that - I'll stick to the permitted books in future...

Okay... I'm not sure whether this is even a correct quesiton, but it does provide you with something to search for (I guess).

What is the Elvish word for 'Great Bear' ?

Er, Quenya or Sindar for the constellation, or literally Great Bear?

re: The Revised Tolkien Trivia

Well, I believe he was going to marry her to Aragorn, as Arwen was a rather late addition to the cast - but that was from HoME, which is not an allowable source. I can't find any other source...perhaps Marky knows differently.
