usa

I've just got back from a week-long book tour of the US - promoting BEING - and now I'm kind of tired and whoozy and bleh. But it was a very good week, and it was fantastic to meet and talk to everyone who'd read the book. Fascinating to discover the different attitudes of readers and reviewers, especially regarding the ending. Some reviewers weren't too sure about it, but almost everyone I met who'd read the book seemed to like the way it ended. Which was nice!
I travelled in the US with the wonderful(s) David Levithan, Drew Lerman, Thu Ha, and Coe Booth, from New York (snowy) to Washington DC to Philadelphia and Miami (very hot), on planes and trains and various swish motor vehicles, visiting a large number of High Schools and libraries and book stores and hotels and malls and interstates and all kinds of other places/things. Big thanks to everyone who came to the events and everyone who helped to organise stuff - and howdy-doos to all at: Books of Wonder, Books, Bytes and Beyond, Glen Rock High School, everyone at Scholastic, Donnell Library Centre, Mary Hogan, Books-A-Million, Olsson's, Jerry C, Springfield High School, Books and Books, Palmer Trinity, and all at Borders and Barnes and Noble.

I myself didn't expect the ending, but I did like it. It was well written.

I've read the book and it certainly gripped me. I like some romance in a novel and the book would be even better if Eddi didn't die. But the book was certainly good. Although it did leave me with question i thought would be answered. But then again that is a technique a lot of Authors use!
