Definitely

All I have to say is that if someone can automatically heal themselves, then there is no way they are human. Plus he could not have maintained conciousness in the hotel room with what he did if he weren't something else. My vote is some sort of hybrid man-machine.

That's true, but what if he is human, but has evolved past what we're used to? The book reminds me of Xmen in parts. Maybe soon, we'll all be able to heal ourselves at super speed.

Something else?

Maybe someday we will be able to heal ourselves. It would certainly save a lot of time and money. But, he has no human identity. Is it possible he is a product of evolution, or, is Robert a twisted creation :?:

Maybe the first Android discovered by us But definalty agree, he is NOT human  The way that he has feelings and emotions as well brings it to a whole new level, with not the old "senseless, metal Android" that has no emotion or feelings.

This is interesting. If he isn't human or a cyborg, but indeed a full android as you are suggesting, then could he still be human?
This issue may become more pressing when we create AI for real- will the first AI be classed as human?

If you had, I don't know... nanorobotic implants that accelerated your healing and helped made you resistant to things that could make you unconscious, would you still be human? I think yes. I, for now, think that seems to be what it is.

However, I do have to agree with the being-awake-in-the-operation business. It is strange that he could both be "awake" in the operation and could, seemingly snap out of it. Indeed, he felt it wasn't him controlling himself then.
