| Who is the author of? Hello, I am very new to this site but I am an avid lover of historical fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. I was wondering if any of the other members might be able to help me remember the author of a particular book. I read it while on holiday (hence I couldn't take it home with me) and can only remember the title. I would like to be able to source a copy to buy. It was in a hardback and was called "The Ring of Lords" (possiblly The Circle of Lords) It was a book written about a period of early English history when a Danish? ruler came across the sea, conqured England and made the local lords swear fealty to him. Then took them across to his court in Denmark to make sure they couldn't cause trouble with rebellion. The man the book is written about married a Danish noblewoman. A while after his return to England he was trapped and made to join in with a rebellion that he didn't want to be a part of. (It was join them or be killed on the spot). He joined but later tried his best to tell the king of the treachery afoot. He became accused of treason and his wife testified against him in court. He was executed even though he was actually innocent. I totally loved this book, but because I was on holiday I was not able to take it home with me and even worse didn't finish reading it! (My husband had purloined it and finished it ahead of me so at least he could tell me how the book ended.) Does anyone else know this book and who the author is? |
