Re: 29.07: 42 You ain't kidding! ![]() And was I the the only one to think Michelle Collins was not only badly mis-cast, but proved what an over-rated actor she is? ![]() Liked the following "Confidential" though, with the history of spaceships in Doctor Who - wires and poles and wobbly planets - great!

Re: 29.07: 42 Ironically, the same Confidential explained why they thought she'd been perfectly cast! However, it also "explained" by changing the meaning of what I thought was a huge faux pas in writing - at the end after Martha kissed the survivor, just inside the TARDIS the Doctor looked like he was so annoyed and jealous he would leave her there... but I got the impression Confidential suggested the look was actually because he'd been contemplating his own mortality, following up his "I'm scared" scene. Shots of the Doctor being jealous - that for me would be a huge "no".

Re: 29.07: 42 Having watched it a second time, I still think it's okay. Maybe not the best, but not the worst. Actually, not sure there has been a bad one this season... for me that is.

Re: 29.07: 42 It wasn't a bad episode, but there were a few holes in it which have been pointed out. The first about Elvis vs Beatles No. 1's, the second about the 'real-time' seeming to speed up at some points, and how the heck are you meant to trace a phone that is not even in the same century as you, let alone he same galaxy?! (Unless Mr. Saxon has given them some special tech that only certain 'people' have access to.) It was a very environmentally friendly episode, packed full of recycled ideas! I think I'd set myself up to believe this would be a phenomenal episode, but was sadly let down. It was above average overall for the NuWho, but for this series, was a bit below par. I think that the reason for the initial events in next weeks story have been hinted at, not through dialogue, but with the look that The Doctor had as Martha returned on board - that look of sheer depressing realisation, that he has suffered more, and is more vulnerable than he would like to show. As has been said, the next two weeks should offer a belter of a story... but we'll leave that for the next threads.

Re: 29.07: 42 Things the Doctor should do based on this weeks ep: 1. Tell ALL COMPANIONS scratch that WRITE A BOOK ON HOW TO BE A COMPANION in the TARDIS to include things like: a. My body regenerates, here is a schematic of my body and what should and shouldn't be there at any given time. b. Should I ever say "Let's just pop out and see" ask me about the enviornmentals and take a few minutes to see if they are stable. 2. The TARDIS needs a "come here" telepathic command. 3. Always carry extra things in your pockets like I used to. 4. Avoid landing on space ships in distress. Coming to port NEAR them and scanning them, hailing them, and checking in with them to see that it is, in fact, OK AND SAFE to land would be a wiser choice. 5. Get myself a cell phone. Everyone else has one but they can't call me when they are in trouble so I can't tell tel them I'm going to save them.

Re: 29.07: 42 Well, in fairness, 2-5 apply pretty much to all space-based sci-fi shows: it's what provides them all with their plots... ![]() And Martha already knows about the two hearts, so unless they're already starting to set-up for a regeneration... ![]()

Also on the Johnathon Woss Show on Friday, apparently there was a lot said about the double episode coming up, and Cap'in Jack's return. | |

Re: 29.07: 42 OK, I'm a little behind with the episodes, so bear me with! Some quite groan-worthy script writing in this episode. Like when one of the crew members is by herself, mumbling away angrily and then says "Oh, just kill me now." Well, when people say things like that, you just have to, don't you? ![]() The acting is annoying, as well. I want to slap the entire crew and shout "act!" You're minutes away from crashing into the sun, with a crazy dude walking around saying "Burn with me", you'd be pretty hysterical, I should think! Apart from The Doctor, of course. He continues to make witty remarks even though he's in terrible danger. That's why I love 'im (and also, he's The Doctor. He knows he's going to escape!)
