Re: Song on the brain

No matter how often I listen to it as of late, I can't get Kula Shaker's "Diktator of the Free World" out of my head.

I'm curious is listening to a song repeatedly a good tactic for getting it out of your head?

Luckily Tom Jones has gone, unfortunatley I've also succumbed to the Spidey bug. I even had to check out the lyrics so that Im not just walking around singing

Spiderman, Spiderman,
does whatever a spider can
do do doo do do doo........

So in the hope of infecting yet more people

Spiderman, Spiderman,
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web, any size,
Catches thieves just like flies
Look Out!
Here comes the Spiderman.

Is he strong?
Listen bud,
He's got radioactive blood.
Can he swing from a thread
Take a look overhead
Hey, there
There goes the Spiderman.

In the chill of night
At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light
He arrives just in time.

Spiderman, Spiderman
Friendly neighborhood Spiderman
Wealth and fame
He's ingnored
Action is his reward.

To him, life is a great big bang up
Whenever there's a hang up
You'll find the Spider man.

Re: Song on the brain

The chorus part of Umbrella by Rihanna has been in my mind. I even woke up with it this morning.

Re: Song on the brain

Oh that is a horrible song and now just by thinking that I have it in my head... oh well I will listen to some good music now.

Re: Song on the brain

I got the Unisex Chip-shop by Bill Bailey in my head. Not that I mind it, it's quite a good song.

"I used to buy my chips from an oppressive chipshop regime..."

Re: Song on the brain

Would you believe, I am currently "twanging" dueling banjos in my head. Someone started it a few days ago at work and now I have it stuck there, so much so, I hummed a few bars this morning and one of my co workers humed the next bit, she has the same problem!!!

I don't think so. It's more like that if you have a small piece of a song stuck in your head, then listening to the entire song will cause your brain to stop trying to remember what the rest of it is and so it might go away.

I once had a song stuck in my head that was so annoying that I resorted to singing The Flintstones just to make it go away, but that's a trick I will only use when I have a song stuck in my head that's worse than The Flintstones and I can't put on some other music to drown it out.

Ha, we had that at work too a couple of weeks ago. Someone would start whistling it, and then it would be in everyone's heads all day.

Re: Song on the brain

*sigh* So much for my iPod keeping bad songs off my brain. They have now set up a radio in the canteen at work, which is where I eat my breakfast. This means that even though I listen to my own choice of music all the way to work, it's now the plastic pop, which they play in the canteen, that I have in my head
