Nathan Fillion in "Drive"

It's not Firefly. Heck, I don't think it's even SF. But Drive, a new TV series, has got Nathan Fillion playing a man with a grim past who is handy with his fists and is trying to save his wife (played by Amy Acker) from faceless forces of evil. It's got Tim Minear writing scripts and producing. And in the first few episodes, Nathan's character is driving a beat-up old BROWN pickup--kinda reminscent of Serenity herself.

If I squint real hard, I can imagine Mal behind the wheel.

Re: Nathan Fillion in "Drive"

Just watched it. Great show actually....even tho its not sci fi. If you pay attention, its like a subtle mix of all the good 70-80 ish action flicks.

Fillion plays the same type of character he does in Firefly....as a matter of fact, he says in Drive something like "You don't want to know the real Alex Tully (his character's name) I promise you that" and he does it in the same way he said "When I start fighting a war, yer gonna see a whole 'nother side to me"

Which made me grin because the facial expressions and fillion's ability to switch from NICE GUY to MR. BAD ARSE in the snap of a finger is one of the reasons I adore fillion. Plus, he does so with such a natural deliver and almost a cold humor that you can't help but be all "GO GET'EM!" lol.

Seriously tho, if you watch Drive, the character is pretty much the same guy fillion plays in Firefly only in a different time. He still protects his 'crew' even when the crew is screwing up, and still upholds things like honesty and commitment, plus the character has a dark past thats not evil but still not nice. If that makes sense.

Yeah, so Im a Fillion freak.
PS: As for the beat up truck----don't worry, they give Fillion a car worthy of the man--- 1970 Charger that is pretty darn cool.

And now it seems that Fox has cancelled the show. That network's execs have concrete where their brains should be.
