Re: Do u think any of gemmell books will make it to the big screen

Gemmell did say Shannow was inspired by Pale Rider.

Perfect Shannow has been the bearded 40+ years Clint. He was too good Shannow then.

Shame hollywood wasnt hungry enough to make movies on books then as they are now.

At the current state though i hope they leave Gemmell books alone.

Re: Do u think any of gemmell books will make it to the big screen

Hi all,
Personally i can not think of any actor to do justice to any of DG's characters. And if they generally do, they will spoil the images that those who have read the according books have created.
What i would really like to see is an anime of DG's Rigante first two books, sword in the storm and midnight falcon. It would have to be a series, for 2 or 3 hours of movie time will not be enough to do justice to the characters. Also, if that ever happens, it would be a good idea to have a poll on how the main characters would look like on the web. eg, the sketch artist wuold provide 4 or 5 different versions of connavar and the others and the fans would be able to choose.

i agree, there is no actor or anyone that could fill the big boots of druss, or bare the scars of connavar.
if anything it has to be like beowulf or simular, but even then it will be wrong.

personaly, im on the verge of making a machinima of legend (when you use game engines to make a movie) now it i personaly dont think it will be what i imagine, or be nearly as good as the book. but its jus summit small i can do to make a tribute to the almighty DG.

I think if any of them got made into a movie it would be Dark Moon or Echoes of a Great Song, stand alone books, character's that can be more easily portrayed, perhaps. And both awesome.

If they were to make a film of DG book, I think it should definately be from the Rigante series, but I don't reckon it will get done, unless there's some big director somewhere out there who really loves David Gemmell books I can't see it being done properly unless it was done by someone who actually cared about the book....

I think if done right then the Jon Shannow books might adapt best and easiest. He's a complex, haunted and deadly character in a world that looks like the old West, but the reveal in a movie could be very dramatic.

I'd like to see it, different enough from most fantasy novels.
