Readers group choices

Well here goes. I see a poll can now hold ten items, but I don't have enough books to fill it anyway (I'm going to regret this when I get to a bookshop)
I've disregarded "Job; a comedy of manners" due to a prerecoded rejection vote, And have not considered shorts, for the instant.
Still, this should be enough to get us started, and we can alwafs scrap it and start another.

Wow!
I've gone for Pixel, on the grounds of length, mainly. You've posted four of the five mammoths there, chris - I'd like to see how it goes before committing to one of the real heavies!

Re: Readers group choices

I was torn between Strangers and TCWWTW, worried a little about chronology on the others...interwoven characters, etc.

Ended on TCWWTW, primarily because I love cats, or am an aelurophile (winks to JD - by the way ran into the term again in Puppet Masters...after running into it twice in a week, in hindsight can't believe I wasn't familiar with it...must have been forgotten rather than never known), and secondly some of the subject matter in Strangers may lend itself to getting to know each other a bit better first! It has also been a LONG LONG time since I've read TCWWTW.

Hope someone picks a different one...unanimous votes are no fun! (lol)

PS...we ARE going to need to work on your Heinlein selection Chris!

Hah! Good point, TT - in fact, I wonder if it's actually possible to grok someone via the www?

Re: Readers group choices

I voted for TCWWTW as well; sorry to be unanimous on this TT. It was a tough choice given that Strangers is my favourite of all Heinlein. It is a hefty read though...

Thanks for discounting "Job" Chris - after bashing it...I now feel obligated to go back and reread. Maybe I judged too quickly?

I won't comment until you've had a chance to reread! If you still feel the same, then maybe I'll go you a debate on it!

Re: Readers group choices

No gauntlet throwing here...beside you have enough on your plate with TEFL and Puppets and our next one...and what ever else you've got on the go. I know I've got alot on mine, and would want to reread myself before a serious chat. I say we shelve it for awhile...that doesn't mean I'm not willing later, whenever you do want to give it a go! Hey, if we can keep this group together for awhile, and are all enjoying it, it might very well end up on our mutual list some day!

Re: Readers group choices

Sounds like a plan TT. And you're right that I've got a full plate. Besides the Heinlein...I'm also working my way through David Eddings' latest series. So, let's put our 'Job' discussion up on the shelf and pick it back up at a more mutually satisfactory time.

BTW - I have 17 posts now...how do I find the PM thing?

I'm still a dumb newbie myself Molly...hope someone with more experience reads this and helps! By the time I even figured out PMs existed the option was already available to me.

Re: Readers group choices

This poll is a great idea and starting with those Chris already has available makes sense to me. I’ve read all of the choices, but quite a while back. I don’t remember any of them very well at this point (probably The Cat least of all). I don’t have any particular preference on which we do next. I think I’ll abstain from the vote unless we need a tiebreaker.

Re: Readers group choices

Molly, have you got your Private Messaging option switched on? If you want to receive PMs, go to User CP, top left, open Edit Options, and tick Enable PMs, and Show Pop-up.(comes up top right)If you don't, of course, just ignore this!

Py - I don't see a box Enable PMs to tick when I go to CP & Edit Options. What am I missing?
