Re: star wars vs star trek the video

This is true. However the Defiant was built specifically to fight the borg standard cube.
not the gargantuan that it faced at 10X the size and power therefore that project was abbandoned in favor of the Soverign class I know its a heavy cruiser but still a totol badasss. then there is the Promethius class.

This one is from roughly 80 years after Endgame. It's a deep space explorer. but it has enhansed shielding deployable oblative armor multi vector fireing turret launched on the fly programmable torpedoes. including the quantum and transphasic torpedoes. the ones that kicked the crap out of the borg in voyager endgame. Ok not a warship but no sloutch either.

This one is also a future vessel With all the same arms except overloaded with them.

It's a Heavy Batllle Cruiser With a full detatchment of Marines with thier own air wing assault force and troop landing craft.
Heavy duty firepower here. a battlegroup onto it's self. note the Sun crusher cannon under the main hull.
You can practically fly a danube class shuttle inside the barrel. It can shatter a small planet. send a star into a solar flair fit, or make a meal out of a Star Destroyer.

Not Cannon of course. But I think cool anyway.

True - though I did get the feeling that Voyage End Game as one of those cases where the producers tell the writers

"Ok this has gone on long enough and our viewer numbers are slipping - time to end it - you have 2 episodes - oh and I really think that they should make it all the way back as well!"

Re: star wars vs star trek the video

I thought it was a weaker ending than they could have done - but I think also that Voyager was also starting to feel its age a little - I think they should have gone and stuck with the idea of a Lost in Space type of series - cut off totally from the Federation - and failed to get back. That would have been more interesting following them setting up a new home - limited in resources and such.
Rather it was a sort of attempt to get back to the roots of the original and TNG with a rather random catapult effect in the first episode

Re: star wars vs star trek the video

Indeed. But leaving them stuck out there for what 50 60 years. Nah. too tragic.
What I think makes Star Wars so very Special is It is realy about the characters not nessisaraly the mission. You care about what happens to them. It doesn't hurt to have a few mindbending full conflagration space battles either. It's Guy Flick all the way. It apeals to the knuckeldragger in all of us.
BTW What did you think of the ships above?

Re: star wars vs star trek the video

I like the look of the Hercules as whilst it is keeping part of the traditionals design it is trying to take a newer look at it. The other looks a little like those old romulan ships - the really really old ones and from the side it looks like a overlarge shuttle craft
