Re: Spoiler Speculation on Season 3

Question - what came first, the literature or the TV series?

In this case the TV series.

My info is from the old Doctor who guide which I suspect to be out of print now, and lots of Doc Who fan mags.

Fair enough.

How will Saxon pop up in the next episode, do you think?

Indeed. I think it's Dalek Sec who pops up. Something like Episode 5, too, methinks.

---

If Saxon is The Master, then he'll be able to find a way to go through time and put in references to himself here and there, the same way that Rose did with BAD WOLF. In which case, there should be some kind of reference in every episode.

Re: Spoiler Speculation on Season 3

Didn't the American Master (Eric Roberts) definitively DIE, til he was deadiily-dead in the awful movie? Does the movie even count, as it was a vile travesty of all things Who?

But, he did die properly, didn't he? I remember vaguely something to do with the time vortex, glowy lights, etc, and one of the essential, mouth-open-cg-lights-and-sparkles effects.

I may just be a bit senile tonight, however (if my typing's anythign to go by, hehehe), and please do correct me if I'm wrong!

Master (Doctor Who) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That's the Wiki Gods article on the Master. It reckons he's alive, and lists three actors that might play him in this series.

Confusing.

I'm glad to hear that (although I surmised as much when he did his disappearing act at the end of the last series) I love that Black Dalek! He's so shiny and angry.

There's a page dedicated to the final episode(s) (two-part for the finale) of this series. I don't know how much of a spoiler it will be to you Doctor Who nutters (Hey, no offence, I put myself in this category!) so I'll do the usual spoilery magic:

Quote:
Two-part episode:
Quote:

The Sound of Drums
The Last of the Time Lords

The casting of Tom Ellis as Tom Milligan has been reported by The Sun, but not confirmed by any official source, though he has been spotted on a beach with Freema Agyeman (who was wearing SAS-style clothing). Similarly, The Sun has reported that Elize Du Toit's character is named "Miss Dexter" and is a villain. Some rumours have gone around suggesting this is the Rani.
The Sun has also reported that John Simm will appear in the finale as the Doctor's arch-nemesis the Master Although this has not been confirmed or denied by official sources, an interview with The Independent on SundayBBC music on February 13, 2007, but also did not deny the story outright. seems to confirm Simm's casting. Simm refused to confirm that he had been cast in an interview broadcast on
It has also been reported that the character of the Professor (played by Sir Derek Jacobi) in the preceeding story will appear to be a friend of the Doctor who turns out to be a Time Lord enemy once he regenerates at the end of the story.
According to people present at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, where a scene from this episode was being filmed, Simm is in fact playing the newly-elected Prime Minister, Mr. Saxon. Clips at the series three press launch have shown Simm and on the Newsround report on the 22nd March show Tennant and Simm both referred to the character as 'Mr Saxon', but Tennant also goes onto say that he's 'more than a match for the Doctor in ways that he can't imagine'. Tennant hesitated before saying 'more than a match...' as if he was searching for the right words. Also note that "MISTER SAXON" is an anagram of "MASTER NO.SIX", if this is the case, John Simm would be the sixth canon actor to play the Master.
The quote thingies are messing me around, sorry.

Not at all, I would have agreed with you, except that this is Doctor Who, and it is scifi, and it seems anything can be done to retcon previous storylines. He could even be a Master from a different dimension where that never happened.

I'm enjoying John Simm in Life On Mars and look forward to seeing him in Doctor Who. Isn't that "Master No. Six" anagram of "Mister Saxon" a little TOO clever to be true?

Re: Spoiler Speculation on Season 3

Hmmm... the name of the final episode speaks volumes. Maybe the Master is done in once and for all, leaving Tennant as the last Time Lord all good and proper? I don't know why I spoilerised that bit. Just seemed like I should.

Re: Spoiler Speculation on Season 3

Maybe, considering the Daleks have broken out of jail, and the Cybers are gleefully hopping between dimensions, the Time Lords have something a bit special up their collective sleeves?

I find it hard to swallow, that a race of near omnipotent beings could be wiped out, leaving the salt pots in a fallible prison ship! Bring on the Time Lords!

Re: Spoiler Speculation on Season 3

I think that every series, the scriptwriters are coming up with even more fantastical ways to bring the Daleks back.

Though I don't think the Cybers will make a return from the alternate dimension - the whole thing was closed up... though if any parallels to Torchwood are made, then the rift can be ripped open once again.

This whole Time War subject - had it happened before Ecclestons Doctor?

As I said in that Regeneration Questions thread: In 'Rose' you see him looking in a mirror commenting on his face. That strongly implies that he has just regenerated. In a Time 'War' you would expect some casualties. He said that he stood by and watched his race get wiped out, but by 'stood by', he could just mean that he didn't do enough, not that he didn't do anything at all. My assumption was that the Time War happened to Paul McGann's Doctor, that somehow Galifrey was compromised, that the Doctor may have been able to do something, but arrived too late and suffered a regenerating-level injury.

Re: Spoiler Speculation on Season 3

On the subject of the titles - we know the finale is going to be a two-parter, and I think it's safe to say that Episodes 4 and 5 will be a two-parter.

Episode 7 could be an interesting one, especially if it's along the same lines as what most of us will think of the moment someone says that.

Argh... you spend so long waiting each week for the next episode that the 13 weeks seem really slow, and then at the end they seem to have flashed by in the blink of an eye, and you end up waiting 39 weeks for the next series.

I wonder if we'll learn more about, or actually see parts of, the Time War. RTD and the other scriptwriters are probably saving it up for some kind of big revelation... heck, maybe another film is in the works!

EDIT: Episode 6 might be the return of our favourite metal men. Especially judging by what the LazLabs site has to say for itself.
