| Super Moderator | LosCon: Questions for Tim Powers? It's getting close to that time. I'll be attending LosCon over Thanksgiving weekend, and Tim Powers is going to be the Guest of Honor. I don't know if there will be any Q & A sessions scheduled with him, but in case there is, or in case I get the opportunity to ask him any questions - is there anything any of you would like to know about him and his work? I'm asking a little early, as I'm going down to L.A. early to do some family things and I won't have sure access to a computer after late this week, until after I return home. So, if you can think of anything in the next couple of days that you'd like me to ask him if I am able, here's your chance. |

| Super Moderator | Re: LosCon: Questions for Tim Powers? Hmmm. I haven't really read enough of his work, here's what I could think up: How does he see himself in relation to the mainstream of the fantasy field? When he started writing Last Call, was he conscious of it being a departure of sorts within the genre, or was it just a question of telling the story that came to mind? How much of the mysticism/folklore-based element in his works does he take seriously? Perhaps you could ask him what he thinks of one characterisation of his modern-day fantasy as 'secret histories', and how much he buys into the conspiracy theory of history in reality. Considering all the amazing folklore elements in his works, it'd be fun to know what he's reading right now! |

| Super Moderator | Re: LosCon: Questions for Tim Powers? Thanks, JP. I'll take these along, along with any other questions anyone posts, and all of my own. The thing is, I can think of a million, and I'm going to have to write them down, or I'll forget them all. Anyone else? |
