The British Awards

Unfortunatley Pterry did not win the Childrens book award for Wintersmith but he did look very smart in his Tux.

Ricky Gevais did for Flanables? of the Deep.

I was quite happy that Ian Rankin won the crime award, even though I don't read crime but would rather have it was that Robert Rankin that did.

Re: The British Awards

Yeah, pTerry did look smart, didn't he?

I think Ricky Gervais' book is called "Flanimals of the deep"; but in any case, I would guess that it won more because Gervais is so well known in the UK, and I would imagine that most of the votes came from parents, who would buy the Flanimals books because Gervais' name was on the cover. But then I'm biased, as I think pTerry should have won hands down!

I'm not prejudiced (well, maybe slightly) and I cannot believe that Wintersmith lost to "a book about bollocks with eyes drawn on" (Gervais' own words). It's like 'I Claudius' losing best drama to 'Big Brother'. The voting panel must have an IQ of about three and a half.
