Re: Red Squirrel Press

It doesn't really suggest a professional outfit, does it?

Re: Red Squirrel Press

Yeah, that was my initial thought - poor website to say the least. But I always like to give the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Red Squirrel Press

I believe Chaz Brenchley taught the Creative Writing MA she was on at Northumbria, but looking at the example of writers she likes, with Julia Darling top of the list, I would imagine Sheila is aiming to replicate something like Bloodaxe Books, another North Eastern publisher - doing the Northern Arts circuit.

Re: Red Squirrel Press

For whatever it's worth, I asked Chaz (Brenchley) about this to see if he could shed any light on 'Red Squirrel'. He does indeed remember Sheila Wakefield, having taught her at Northumbria Uni., but he was unaware of 'Red Squirrel Press' and knows nothing about her capabilities as a publisher, so feels unable to comment or offer advice.

Sorry, not much help, I realise, but I thought I'd let you know.

Re: Red Squirrel Press

Hi

Someone told me today about your request re info.

Please ask me anything you'd like to know.

Sorry about the qulaity of the website but I just did it myself in order to save money but now that I have launched the first publication I might seek professional website design.

All best
Sheila

Re: Red Squirrel Press

Hi, Sheila,

I was interested in Red Squirrel because my second novel, Sinema is set in Northumberland. With you being a Northumberland-based publisher, I thought it would make a good match.
