Re: Starbuck death Hi, {Si}! Welcome to the Chronicles... Haven't been able to keep up with much on tv lately, but... um, don't you think the thread title is a bit of a spoiler for those who haven't yet seen the season? ![]()

Re: Starbuck death I agree, I don't know if that is correct or not as I can no longer get Sky One on cable and haven't seen that episode, but I'm going to alter your thread title to "Starbuck Shock" and add a spoiler warning.

| Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) I don't think Starbuck is dead--or, rather, I think she may die, but I don't think she's going to stay dead. She's got a destiny, and going down into the cloud mandala and facing death is part of that destiny. I'm guessing that she's going to travel to the space between life and death that we caught glimpses of in "Rapture" and other episodes, when D'Anna had herself killed in order to see what was in that space. | Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) SPOILER STUFF SEASON 3 Season three is turning, (for me anyway), into one big soap opera, metaphyscial, flashback, no cylons, lost in space yawn. ...and next week Baltar's trial, so now it's Law and Order in space. Sorry, my cynicism is showing; it's ever since the Galactica jumped the space shark getting them off New Caprica. |

Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) I enjoy the show. Big battles don't interest me. What interests me is how people deal with life (and death). If there's a big battle, I want to see how it affects people (emotionally, as well as physically), not just see ships maneuver and blow each other up. The show has always been character-driven, and it continues to be character-driven. So I'm happy.

Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) I disagree Brown Rat. I like the character work, but the mix is now all out of whack. If I wanted to watch a better acted version of general hospital then I would watch ER. This is why the viewing figures are falling. One of the principle reasons people watch Sci-fi is to encounter new ideas and concepts, but the "OOH" and "AHH" moments of extraordinary visual imagery are also very important. Get the mix wrong and you have soap opera.

Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) I like the show better when they focus on the intense relationships, but not so much when they are focusing on people standing around blabbering about a trial. My goodness, just cut off the man's head and be done with it. ![]()

Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) For me its always been about the characters and their reactions to the immediate visceral neccessities of their environment....its not been the visual goodies that have been brought me back (but the Galactica falling out of the sky in Exodus sticks in my head as a big moment though). This slow-paced lamenting over processes is dragging me away from a show I loved. Im okay with the drama that was played out because it was about a very basic human reaction to extraordinary circumstances...I dont know now. Its no longer a must watch.

It's ironic . . I thought this big spoiler was about the last episode of the Season. She is alive and claiming to have been to Earth. I don't think she's a shylon . . er . . flyon . . er . . cylon. But there is something weird about her. | |

Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) Well, the mystery is how she survived after her viper went boom. Being a Cylon would be one explanation how she survived, namely that she downloaded (and stole a captured viper and found her way back to Earth...) I think there was other spolier type content in the season 3 finale, such as the revealing of some other Cylon models...

Re: Starbuck Shock (Big Spoiler) Not being able to see this anymore, I've missed most of this season. It's impossible to avoid spoilers like this though, so I've read the online discussions over is she/ isn't she? She certainly isn't dead, but whether she is a Cylon or not, I have no idea. What struck me was how she kept this a secret even from the rest of the cast. They all thought that she was leaving the show. I find it incredible that she could keep up such a deception with her fellow actors for so long.
