The Art of Discworld I recently received the 2004 publication of The Art of Discworld by Terry Pratchett and Paul Kirby. Although I have just started to read through it, I do enjoy the ample amount of dialog about the art pieces republished in this collection. If anything else, it has got me re-interested in picking up another Discworld book. Does anyone else have this book, and what are your thoughts?

Re: The Art of Discworld I really enjoyed looking at Paul Kidby's amazing artwork, and seeing the comments he and pTerry had written. I've got this one on my shelf, and I look through it quite regularly. I loved The Last Hero as well ![]()

Re: The Art of Discworld I don't have the book and so can't comment on it But I originally started reading Discworld because of the Josh Kirby covers and an era seemed to die (at least for me) when Josh Kirby died and they had Paul Kidby do the covers. I've sort of hated Paul Kidby artwork till about a week ago I just hated the artwork because it was so very different from the distinct Josh Kirby covers. However, I've been looking at the Josh Kirby covers recently because I was re-arranging my book collection and realized that Josh drew all the characters with much exaggeration. It's hard to distinguish Vimes from Carrot on the Kirby covers. The Kidby covers are much more "true-to-life" in that respect So I guess I'm finally being won over ...

Re: The Art of Discworld His horsemen of the apocalypse are phenomenal! I didn't like Josh Kirby's covers as they were so busy, there wasn't anything for the eye to follow. Paul Kidby's beggars are also brilliant, especially Coffin Henry.
