Clones?

Allegra's picture of the day post got me to thinking, would you clone your pet if it was easy and affordable?

I might consider cloning my dog as she's pretty near perfect. The only thing that would stop me is the fact that there are so many unwanted pets in shelters right now, that I would feel a little guilty bringing a new dog into the world, when I could save a dog that is already here.

Re: Clones?

Do you mean ideally, or scientifically? Because nurture plays a huge part in any animal's personality - just because it's the same animal doesn't mean it would act the same.

Re: Clones?

Both - I like to think we'd nurture her in pretty much the same way. But, no, she wouldn't be exactly the same; I do know she's smart(has learned 80% of the english we speak), not headstrong(never have to discipline her twice, she responds very well to the look of disappointment), loving(she's a people dog), and adventurous.

Re: Clones?

My father refused to get me a dog, but I haven't given up asking for one yet. Is there really a cloning system around? I never knew...

I wouldn't for the same reason. If I had them cloned I'd definitely modify their upbringing method - I must've given them too much credit, both little buggers seem to be suffering from 'specie identity disorders'.

I wish there will be huge cloning plants for endangered species.
