| unknown | Re: What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment? FSS? It's a manga. Google "Gears Online" for more info. It's a bit more than the typical giant robot fare though. Saw the anime years ago and just couldn't find the books, though they were translated into English for a while. No Hero is good as well, though it's coming to an end soon. Ellis seems like he's back to his old self. Black Summer was a bit of a letdown, but this seems to be on the right track, though the premise is somewhat similar. Still can't help but read the horror that is Ultimatum. I should have known it would be bad after reading the Ultimates volume 3. |

| Re: What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment? Just finished Chopper: Song of the Surfer. The day before, Promethea Book 3. Prior to Promethea 1,2,3 I read The Kindly Ones. Before The Sandman, TLoEG 1 & 2. In the middle of three epic series! All three are excellent. Where next? |

| Re: What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment? Phew!.... wipes brow and retracts electric prodder. It's one of my favourite graphic novels of all time. Perhaps along with Watchmen, Swamp Thing and Miracel Man, Moore's best work (I rank V for Vendetta and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen on the next rung down). |

| Comment Giver | Re: What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment? I don't know, I found From Hell to be one of the hardest graphic novels to read, I have ever known. It's probably fair to say that I struggled reading it. (Then I picked it up and just had to read it again stright away, so maybe I'm undervaluing it....) As for myself, I've not read a comic or graphic novel in (gulp) over 3 months now. I have a pile nearly as big as my bedside cabinet to read, and told myself not to touch it until I'd cleared the small pile of books that consists of my current to read pile. I'm into the last two... |

| Knivesout no more | Re: What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment? It isn't an easy read; I think you're quite right to say that. Some of it was extremely disturbing and at other times the narrative itself was very dense. It sort of killed the thrill of reading any other Ripper-based book afterwards - there's something definitive-seeming about Moore's characterisation of the Ripper, above and beyond any particular theory he offers. |
