Re: Episode III Teaser Trailer

I saw bits of the trailer on tv tonight (Access Hollywood had an exclusive for it) but my husband who talks really loudly was discussing something with my roommate in front of the tv so I only caught parts of it. From what I saw they used a lot of parts from the first (or fourth whatever) Star Wars to show where they were going with this one. I missed most of the actual dialogue but I think most of that was from One (or Four ) from Obi Wan's explanation to Luke about his father and Jedi knights. There were some shots of Yoda preparing for a fight, one of Amidala (with the Leia danishes on her head ) hugging someone in relief or upset, a shot of Darth Vader's 'creation', and the final closeup face shot of what I'm assuming is some sort of Sith in a hooded cloak.

Any Star Wars fanatics out there who can answer a strange question? Were Sith ever mentioned in the originally aired trilogy? I don't recall hearing it but that doesn't say much. I'm asking because I find it interesting that the Sith have a name so similar to the Mord Sith of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series.

The Sith were mentioned. I'll have to take a closer look at the scripts to find it for you.

A New Hope's script:

Ctrl + F for 'sith' finds several references.

Ah yes, it's there. It isn't in any of the dialogue that I could find, that's why I don't remember hearing it. So maybe Goodkind borrowed it from Lucas? Who knows. I just thought it was interesting.

Well what're the Mord Sith? I've only read a couple of pages in Wizard's First Rule.

It looks very cool, although the armies of Wookies were surprising. One thing I like about Star Wars is that evn when he screws-up the mythos and has dubious dialogue, he knows what goes into pulp sf action.

The Mord-Sith are a group of women who are sworn to protect Lord Rahl to the death.

Re: Episode III Teaser Trailer

Thanks for posting that - there was no way I was paying $39.95 just to see the trailer at starwars.com.

And Wookies - I predicted that.

Namely because Lucas wanted Wookies in Return of the Jedi, but it was too impractical, so they went for Ewoks instead. CGI means that's not an issue any more.

Re: Episode III Teaser Trailer

I watched this today. It may just save the original trilogy, but I am not getting my hopes up just yet, the trailers for eps I and II filled me with excitement to after all.

... and as for buying VI to VI on DVD. I dont think I will ever do it. Those changes are horrific!

Re: Episode III Teaser Trailer

Ep 3 was always the one to watch, as it was always going to be closer to the original series - plus we'd see Darth Vader made! I have hopes that Episode 3 will be far more redeeming than the previous 2 - but I'm not getting my hopes up too soon.

Sand Dog

Lucas debuted the trailer/teaser officially in the theatres this past weekend with the release of The Incredibles.

It is certainly a teaser: short and leaves us begging for more. I know that I have bashed Lucas's decisions in regards to the new trilogy and "re-inventing" the original one, but I must admit I REALLY want to see the third episode!

A bit of Star Wars Trivia: George Lucas had the teaser sent out under the surname, Sand Dog. I'll post a scan of the actual teaser in film form once I can figure out how to get attachments working from this computer.

Films coming into the theatres' hands under false titles to curb theft during transportation isn't all that uncommon. For example, Hellboy arrived in projection booths under the title, Tales from the Vatican. I have never, however, seen a teaser sent out under a surname before.

Re: Episode III Teaser Trailer

I am very nervous to get my hope up for Revenge of the Sith. I remember watching the trailer for Attack of the Clones and getting so excited to only be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed AOTC, but it wasn't anything like I was used to in the original trilogy.....it was better than Phantom Menace though (which isn't saying much). I just hope that this movie comes out, and destroys my doubts and is the greatest movie ever. At least the wait isn't too much longer.
