Re: Research

Thank you, Katie. All these stories help me to build a mental picture of what it is like to suffer something like this. I consider myself very lucky not to have ever had to cope with a fear like the ones you describe. I've found it a hard viewpoint to write from, but also a most enlightening one. I think those who suffer phobias will identify well with Nolita, my character - or at least I hope they will.

Re: Research

hi there, i am curious as to weather this charecter is living in modern or medi evil times? because then of course some phobias bear no significance to the subject.
if would be incongrous if the charector(in these medi evil) was noble and perhaps suffered from hippophobia- the irrational fear of horses.
just a toatally arbitary thought!!!

Re: Research

Lilly, the stories are set in a pseudo medieval world, but any stories about phobias are useful. My character suffers several, but particularly a general phobia of large animals and a phobia of heights. Both are very limiting, as she is destined to be a dragonrider. A side-effect of the phobias is obsessive compulsive disorder, which becomes more pronounced as the series progresses. I've never suffered any of these things, but have found the stories of those who have, most useful and enlightening.
