Some excellent choices Flavia. . . . The Lady With an Ermine has to be, hands down, my favourite Da Vinci piece. Tempestuous Carravaggio's use of light reflected the dark, inner struggles of the human heart. Good old Sando's stuff has a stylized feel to it that's uniquely his own. Not a great personal favourite, but highly admired, nonetheless.

And Ben, I love Bellini's Portrait of Leonardo Loredan, Doge of Venice. A more elegant blend of science and art is yet to be found.

Well, yes, but isn't that due more to the effects of aging on non-lightfast pigments?
