Re: Date Set! Yay!

And so...the end is near...*Sways*

The world will come to a stand still on the 21st! There'll be looting and riots and...

Well, perhaps not. Still, it's good at see that a final date has been set.

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Yeah, I'll read it as well, but I don't think I'll rush out to buy it...probably order it over Amazon a few days later (if they haven't all been nabbed already) And then I can WHOOP everytime someone dies

Sorry, I'll stop with the bitterness now. It's already been done in various Hary Potter threads

Yay! Another reason to stay up until midnight.

I'm surprised she hasn't tried to get the date set as 07/07/07. But ah well... and doesn't she look old?! She was never that thin when she first started!

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Ah, yeah, that is a thought. 7th would've been cool.

And well, as it says, it has been 10 years since the Philosopher's Stone, so she's had to get a bit older!...Gods, I can't believe it's been that long! But then...I can remember reading it for the first time back in year 5, for a library quiz (and I was 10 then and I'll be 20 this year, so yup, 10 years!) I didn't think much of the book at the time. Then the hype hit and everyone started reading it.

Re: Date Set! Yay!

I got the first two for Christmas in 1997 (I think they released within a few months of each other, didn't they?), and I got all my friends into them.

Apart from the first two, I've always had them delivered, or been out and bought them, on the day they came out.

Re: Date Set! Yay!

The fourth, fifth and sxith I bought on the day they came out...At least, I think I did with the sixth. Gods, I really can't remember anything about that book!

I'll probably try to get the last one within a few days of it coming out, purely so that when people start dying, certain members of the public who can't keep their mouths shut won't ruin it for me...like last time, some silly people put a banner across a bridge on a motorway telling everyone who died.

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Which is why you need to get it at midnight and read it straight away.

Sadly I was forced to bed when the sixth came out (after I'd bought one for me, and one my sister, obviously)... and was at Alton Towers for the whole day. But I still found time to read on the coach... with disastrous results. And I've never had disastrous results before.

Ooooh! How's about we have a forum race to see who can read it the fastest?

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Ah, I am intrigued! I would join in with that! But does that mean I have to go out and get it at midnight? Because I know you'd cheat and start before I even get the chance to buy the damned thing!

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Yes it does!

You can guarantee that a good number of members will go out and buy it at midnight. So we could set a time, say 1am, for everyone to start reading.

EDIT: Either that, or people post the time they started reading, and the time they finished reading (with any breaks noted), and we just compare.

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Ah, yes, the I prefer the latter. Because there's no freaking way I am lining up at midnight with screaming teenagers (and adults too, I'm sure!) just to buy that damned thing!

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Then get it at a supermarket - the Asda near me had three giant pallets of books (about 100 a layer, 6 feet high) when Bk6 came out. Add to that the fact that supermarkets have around 30 tills... you won't have to line up with many people.

Re: Date Set! Yay!

Never, Lenny!

Well, I'll see. I wouldn't just go out at midnight to get it, though, I'd have to make a night of it...like getting my friends to dress up as wizards or something crazy. Then I might be inclined to do it. But otherwise, no, I am not venturing out just to buy the blasted thing!

I can't believe how expensive it is across the Atlantic though...$34.99! Madness.
