Currently reading The One Tree (some spoilers) Yes, well for christmas I was given three books that I really wanted to read, The Wounded Land, The One Tree, and White Gold Wielder. I have to say that when I first started this part of the series I was really surprised at how much had changed in the Land, and I was also a bit upset by it. All of the other books I had read in this series always seemed to be able to lift my spirits with those simple words, "Never despise, and Never despair" and when ever I had been reading this series, prior to this middle section, I was uplifted by that, yes it really does work if you apply those simple concepts to every day life. Never despise and Never despair. But this part of the series, well I have to continue reading but its very hard to read because of how easily everyone in the Land is now so quick to despise and despair, even the giants though they have developed ways to instinctively cast it off. Its hard to read because I had grown to love the Land and it seems the more I read the worse its getting.... Very good story though!

Re: Currently reading The One Tree (some spoilers) The One Tree was the hardest of the six books for me (haven't read Runes of the Earth yet in the new series). But White Gold Wielder is worth all of the effort! What a book! Keep pushing on. -g-

Re: Currently reading The One Tree (some spoilers) Ahhh, I adored The One Tree, certain scenes in that one have always vividly stayed with me. The second series is quite tough to read in places though for sure, and I think that's a testament to Donaldson's ability to attach the readers to the land and its characters as much as anything - it hurts to see things go wrong. I urge you not to form an opinion 'til you've finished WGW. ![]()

Re: Currently reading The One Tree (some spoilers) Actually I kind of screwed up with this series. You see I did not know anything about tne series what so ever and I was looking at some books at a bookstand and I bought Runes of the Earth, thinking it was book one of an interesting looking series. After reading the fist part, which told the entire story up until then in a short form, I then realized I had the last book in the series and not the first. But I was so into the story by then that I read it anyway. Then I went back to the beginning and now I am almost back to the Runes of the Earth once again and I will read it again when I get there...hehe ![]() Rahl
