Dyeing his hair is simple but as to the rest... I'm not sure what you mean. Quite frankly I'm not sure if Mr. Dinklage was just insulted or complemented. I'm sure walking stooped over and limping is easier than a dye job. It's not just in how he looks - this guy can act. If you've ever seen him you'd know what I mean.

He looks perfect! Makeup and contact lenses can supply the rest. Good call, Jimmie.

Sure, Dinklage needs a prosthetic hump and he'll get some real heavy makeup after he loses his nose, but he'd be good. The only acting of his that I've seen is Elf. He plays Miles Finch, the idea guy. He was solid in that role.

I hear good things about him in The Station Agent alot but I've never seen it. He was on the CBS sci-fi show Threshold for its brief run and he was the best thing about the cast.

Now to Littlefinger. I've previously mentioned Michael Sheen and here is a picture or two of him for your consideration:

I kind of think that James Callis would be excellent as well but he's a bit busy with BSG right now, eh? Maybe he'll be available when Gaius Baltar finally gets waxed.

Thumbs up Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Patrick Stewart = Ned, Kane = the mountain, that guy who played Willow would make a good Tyrion( already has a bum leg and the stature), Heath Ledger isn't "pretty" enough for Loras or Jamie, Chyna would make a good Brienne, IF she hadn't had her "implant's" put in! lol
I'm soooooooo glad to find a place that is peopled with other people who love these books!!!!

My axe...........quickly!

Patrick Stewart... I think he might be a bit too old. Tywin Lannister on the other hand, he might be perfect for.

Kane... good call. Big and brutal.

Warwick Davis... I dunno. No disrespect intended (he's been in some of my favorite movies) but unless he's wearing a furry suit he's just not a very good actor. Dinklage IS Tyrion Lannister. I cannot sufficently convey on a messageboard how important it is that he play Tyrion.

Heath Ledger... agreed.

Chyna... she gives me the willies, and that's not a good thing. Her Playboy spreads are kinda like a car wreck: you just have to watch. Blech!

Welcome aboard!

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Got to agree about dinklage... perfect choice for Tyrion. I've seen him in a few things - none of which i can recall the names of to be honest. And i think he could pull it off quite nicely.

Patrick Stewart IS far too old to be Ned - I see Ned as being barely forty... he was barely 20 when he married catelyn...from what i can gather. He'd be no-way more than 50.

Warwick Davis has been in TOO many things. He seems the "go to" guy whenever a short! actor is required. Time to move on and let him retire after playing Professor Flitwick in the seven Harry Potter films.

Heath Ledger is a POOR actor in everything i've seen him in ... possibly exceptin only brokeback mountain. but still not nearly good looking enough to play jaime... Beric Dondarrion however... he could play that well.

And have you heard her speak? Unless she has learned enough as an actor to change her pitch and accent, she still has that weird combination of deep and high in her voice - I think that would do an injustice to Brienne's character. Plus, she can't act. Overall, I am against the addition of any pro-wrestlers to the cast. Although Kane is freakishly huge enough to be a tempting choice..

The actress playing Brienne would need to be tall (unless they can do that with special effects), but bulk and muscle can be added by training and costuming. I see Brienne as being very plain, with poor teeth and thin hair, but not monstrous - just average, like most of us. Yes, she is very large and muscular, but I think the reason so many people hurled the insult 'Ugly!" and "Freak!" at her because her behaviour was so odd to them - so they said what they considered to be the worst insult one could tell a woman, especially a high born woman - to try to force her into a role they could understand. So I'm not convinced she is as hideous as her detractors paint her - people like Lord Tarly aren't the most objective observers.

My friends and I were talking about this last night and we came to the conclusion that Brienne will have to be played by a man, baby! Shades of Shakespeare! I think Jaime is the best judge of what she really looks like. Sure he's banging his sister, but I think if she had any beauty at all he'd point it out, which I think he does with her eyes.

Here's a pic of Kane for your consideration of "The Mountain That Rides a Very Unfortunate Horse."

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

There's altogether too many folks suggesting professional wrestlers, for my liking. I'd prefer someone who mightn't precisely fit the description in the books, but could capture the essence of the character through good acting. Now, wrestling may be acting, but I don't think anyone's going to hold it up as 'good' acting....

On Gregor, they can always go the LotR route and just use perspective, small horses, and a touch of greenscreen - or padding and a damn footstool - to make him look the right size....

Did you even read what I wrote, Jimmie? I was pointing out that Brienne's behaviour is what causes her to be dubbed masculine, IMO much more so than her appearance, so, no, she's not a trannie lookalike, and Jaime is not exactly an impartial judge, as he is a male of that era and has all the indoctrination of it...*sigh*, never mind.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

My bad.........in the very first chapter of AGOT, it says that Ned is 35 yrs old, so Jean Luc Picard will never do! Maybe he'd do for one of the older kingsguard? Selmy???
Kane is a big guy, the mountain is a big guy, you cant teach big and he wouldn't really have any lines anyways!
Irregardless, whatever we say..............does it really matter? lol
It will be interesting to see who the producers decide upon as characters though.

My axe..........quickly!

Jaime and Tarly aren't impartial, agreed. How about Catelyn? Does anyone comment on her other than negatively? I agree that wearing a suit of mail and brandishing a sword are definately considered in the realm of the masculine. I would point out that no one gives her any compliment whatsoever that would be considered favorable about her appearance other than her eyes. Her teeth are too big, her large ears stick out, she's taller than most men, she has little to no breasts and she's built like a Sherman tank. Now, if you're in to that kind of thing more power to you but I'd prefer to bed Cersei, Catelyn, Ygritte or even Lollys to a woman that could win a melee. I'd hang with her, I'd fight at her side but I wouldn't lay with her. Sorry.
