Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series? With a description like that i can think of only one woman capable... 170lbs, 6'-ish - Joanie Laurer - Chyna from the WWE... Butt Ugly and definitely big enough... eeeww... but sounds perfect from the stats... still - eeeww...

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series? She is described as rather ugly... big ears, flat chest, horsey features... hardly just plain... Even Catelyn couldn't think of her as plain and she liked Brienne.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series? fair enough... i'll admit, I'd rather not see any butt ugly people in the series... TV ugly sure, but general public butt ugly no thanks... TV Ugly usually is plain jane.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series? You know, he's not a good actor, but The Rock's physical attributes scream Khal Drogo to me. Dressed as he was in the Scorpian King is always how I've seen Khal Drogo in my mind.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series? Joanie Laurer as Brienne? I'll second that. But Dennis Rodman's got an even bigger bod, and he's not as good looking as Joanie, and he doesn't mind dressing in drag.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series? The problem with Chyna playing Brienne is that she doesn't have the acting chops to do it. It's gonna take some inventive casting to do the whole series correctly. It may be that we lose alot of characters in the translation. I can't imagine the average viewer being able to keep up with all of the characters and plotlines. Reading is easier because you get more detail and nuance that can't be shown on film. Then again maybe they'll just be cameo appearances that only us harcore GRRM fans will catch, eh?

I also think that the minor POV characters - unfortunately this includes everyone who is NOT a Stark or a Lannister or a Targaryan named Dany will be relegated to these cameo characters... Brienne and Davos being likely the only ones that get significant screen time... i also predict a scale-back on the Greyjoys... they do rather dilute the story in the earlier books where Theon has POVs... or they could be intro'd later after the Starks start dying off - which is kind of what happened in the books, but Ned was the only dead stark when we start getting Theon. | |
