Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

I think I would throw myself off a building if those great talents of Nicole Kidman, Russel Crowe and Kate Beckinsale ever came near this series

See Boaz, couldn't you see her freeing slaves as Dany?

Et, I could but can she still pull off the teenager when they start filming this in two years?

And can anyone tell me who Leslie Lohan is? Does Lindsay have a sister? I don't want to see Lindsay, I just want her to go away. If Leslie is her sister, I just want her to not show up at all.

Seeing as she was 24 or 25 when Matchstick men was filmed she might be able to do it. I mean, she looked thirteen then.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Okay, time to revisit my old thread. Kevin McKidd is available. How about Alexander Skaarsgard?

He's working for HBO right now on True Blood, playing a vampire named Eric Northman. I think he'd be good for Thor too...

Remember people: be realistic. It's HBO, if you want it to last, they have to bring it in for a reasonable price per episode. No Brad Pitt fantasies.

My personal pick for my favorite character: Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. He was in last summer's Prince Caspian.

Dinklage, if he was willing to do it, would be a no brainer.

I still want Tim Roth as either Littlefinger or Varys.

I saw Dinklage in Death at a Funeral recently. Hillarious movie by the way. He would make a perfect Tyrion.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Dinklage is the overwhelming favorite in this forum. There is a dearth of dwarf actors, mainly due to the fact there are so few roles available. But Dinklage can really act.

Roth would be great. But how about Michael Imperioli as Littlefinger... does he have that New Jersey accent all the time?

This has probably been mentioned before, but I think the best opportunity for bigger named actors to join the cast would be to have them play Starks. Like we thought when we started reading "Oh, the Starks are the protagonists. They'll win in the end", the TV viewers will be shocked to see Eric Bana, Teri Hatcher, and Daniel Radcliffe killed off in the first three seasons.

I hadn't thought of it that way, it could work. It would still be a big commitment for a film actor to do a series especially if they film it in Europe. But with a guy like Bana, maybe so.

I think Imperioli is an interesting idea but I think the accent is a package deal. I'm sure his name has been broguht up but how about Dominic Moore? He's familiar with HBO after working on The Wire. He was pretty devious in 300 too.

And I bring up Roth because his career isn't what it used to be, he's done a mini-series for HBO, and would be amazing.

And if you haven't seen Dinklage in The Station Agent, you're missing an amazing, amazing perfomance (whatever his height), and just a first class movie.

I wholeheartedly agree. The STation Agent was a wonderful movie and Dinklage's performance was outstanding.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Considering this is an HBO series, they'll be using television actors, not movie actors. Look at stuff like Oz, Rome, The Sopranos, Carnivale, Six Feet Under. All great shows, none of them using people well established in movies. A few actors like Harold Perrineau have done both (Augustus Hill in Oz, Michael Dawson in Lost as well as Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet and Link in the Matrix movies.)

I think you're far more likely to see relative unknowns in this and that's the way I want to see it, to be honest. Mostly because all of the above shows from HBO were fantastic and that seems to be the way they operate. Wouldn't want to change a thing.

Yeah I think you have to pick actors who are either on the way up and we never heard of emm or on the way down and we havent heard from em in awhile....

Personally I want to reiterate Rutger Hauer as Tywin....he's blond, craggy faced and has a rather piercing gaze....and his career aint what it used to be.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Dang it... lost my internet connection after a long post....

Here's the summary...

1. Welcome back, Aegon.

2. Rutger Hauer also works as the Old Bear.

3. Parminder Nagra or Navi Rawat as Arianne.

4. Diedre Hall as Genna.

5. Michael York as Pycelle.

6. Bruce Campbell as Jorah.

7. Sonya Wagner as Catelyn or Lysa.

8. Linda Hunt as the Queen of Thorns.

9. James Cosmo as Tormund or Craster.

10. Brendan Gleeson as Robert. Again the best chance for a well known actor is in a role that quickly ends.

11. Susan Dey as Melisandre.

12. George Hamilton as Doran.

13. Edward Burns is on the decline. I could see him as Eddard, but he sometimes looks too smarmy... definitely not a quality that Eddard possessed.

14. Wes Bentley as Renly.

15. Thora Birch as Lysa.

I like George Hamilton as Doran Martell. Good one.

I seem to recall Ed Norton playing a similar character in Kingdom of Heaven.
