Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

Easy, Druss, because he would never give up, coming a close second, Waylander, cause he was a professional and ruthless - a deadly combination. If they met they would likely kill each other, neither would be a victor....
Best swordsman...waylander...although not strictly a swordsman, can you really see him losing? he'd pop his opponent half way through with a crossbow bolt....

Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

Best swordsman is Culain, from the "Ghost King". Skillgannon is an over-rated swordsman, he is very good but not the best. Samildanach could beat Decado, but it would be a very interesting match.

The deadliest is waylander, but Jon Shannow is his equal plus he is a little insane.

Saying all this, no one is a match for Druss the Legend!

Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

I dont know if anyone else mentioned it but if we are indeed talking about the deadliest character in all of Gemmell's books, we have to talk with facts. In the "Hero in the shadows" Gemmell actually solves this question by the following phrase "Ustarte gave a wan smile. 'Nothing that walks or breathes is more deadly than the Grey Man.' " Meaning, ofcourse, Waylander....

Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

Skilgannon fought Decado(his reborn) in Swords of night and day and aknowledged that decado was better, sure you can say that Skilgannon wasn't used to his body, but then you can say Decado didn't have the mental powers of the ice killer. So Skilgannon is out the picture. Mental powers probably pwn Dace too. Qin Chong could beat him, but Qin Chong isn't actually human, so I am not sure he counts.

Waylander can beat anyone, true Druss is highly perceptive, but he has never faced an assassin of Waylanders calibre, just read the start of Hero in the Shadows, the best prologue ever IMO. The only one who could possibly beat Waylander is Shannow
who is Rolynd which gives him an important edge. Although he has guns which isn't really fair, same with Viruk, who's Zhi bow is just mean.

But Pagan will always hold the highest rank of badassery for beating the hell out of 9 joinings. A feat the likes of which can never be replicated.

Well said i dont think any other DG hero was as bad and as dangerous Pagan did then, fighting against so many monsters at once.

What a feat, it made what happened to him much easier since to handle since i liked him so much . Its also very cool of DG to add an african hero to his world.

Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

skillgannon is the deadliest. he his the whole package, a leader and a warrior with a mass of issues going on. he is certainly the coolest, with the best weapons. after reading swords of night and day, i took up sword and stick fighting, haha

I think Druss was the best fighter;he held Skeln pass almost single-handed.But Waylander and Shannow tie for most deadly. If they want you dead you're toast!

Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

Sure Waylander's one deadly fecker, but his crossbow only has two Quarrels per load, shoot two guys, then he's dead. ><
Viruk had the edge there with his Zhi-Bow, as far as the Trojan/Mykene Character's go, while they are powerful in their settings, up against any of Gemmel's other Swordsmen I think they'd be easily beaten, for a start they all use/wear Copper/Tin armour and weaponary, Snaga would snap any of their blades :P Plus they havent got any of that true Swordsman Technique.
I'd have to say Skillgannon Or Dace.

Re: Gemmels most dangerous/deadliest character

Druss is the most powerfull but is really a hero because of his morales. Waylander is by far the most stealthy charecter and in my opinion the deadliest. The Decado from swords of night and day is the best swordsman because in the end he fights skillgannon and has many opportunities to take his life as he is the better swordsman but he does not want to make the fatal blow.
If the situation was a free for all between them druss would win as there would be no escaping the murderous arc of his snaga

If the situation meant that they were looking for each other all over the world then waylander would win as he would track them down and kill them

If it was a sword fight decado would win with ease

skillgannon was bested in a swordfight by decado in sword of night and day in the end but decado didn't want to take his life, and Tenaka Khan is by far the best leader
