Still playing with ads - Science Fiction Fantasy Chronicles: forums

Just in case the site looks a little different, I'm still playing with ad formats.

The aim is to *not* increase the space that ads take, so I've removed the Amazon store ads and placed a small banner at the top of page.

The Amazon store ads are now links in the top menu, so that they no longer take up such a chunk of space.

Feedback is always welcome, especially if you see changes you don't like.

I don't think lots of people will use the Amazon thingy when it's been hidden like that.

Possibly true, I've been here an hour and have only just noticed that they've been changed into links. But then on the other hand, it leaves more room for the forum...*shrugs* sorry, not helpful at all!

I agree. I think people are more likely to use it if it's more in your face. I didn't mind the ads up at the top. I thought they looked quite colourful.

Well yes the fart button is colourful, but I actually meant the amazon book ads that used to be up there.

Certainly wouldn't want the fart button more in my face

I've seen some of these ads on other sites. And if that buzzing mosquito one comes on, I'm going to break my computer screen

Well, I don't mind the fart botton so much, at least it stays still. But if I'm informed one more time, in a flashig box, that I have a message from Natasha, 31, from Russia, I will get very upset!

Yes, they were ok. They stayed quietly at the top of the page, they didn't flash at you(!), they were relevant, and they were useful.
