Darkweaver or Imperial

I was just wondering who prefers the Darkweaver Legace and who prefers the Imperial Series and why.
I'll start, I prefer the Darkweaver Legacy, because I like all the characters as they are cool.

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

While i do enjoy the Darkweaver Legacy, Mark's writing and storytelling has improved so much in the Imperial series that I've just got to vote for them

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

I do agree with you on that, but it was the Darkweaver Legacy that has inspired me to write a book of my own and it will be one that I enjoy and it will always inspire me.

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

The main downside on Darkweaver I've heard is that Calvyn's character is too "shiny". He doesn't make mistakes or appear to have much of a dark side, except in the 2nd book
I didn't really mind it, as it is aimed at YA after all, the character feels real enough, and given his responsibilities and trials its nice to see him rewarded, as he's such a nice guy.

Yes, do you know if he(Calvyn) is going to get another series, I know he makes an appearance in Imperial Spy as Lord Shanier, but thats not quite the same.

As far as i know these plans still stand

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

Interesting poll. I had better abstain, of course, but I shall be intrigued to see which is the more popular series.

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

I was quite impressed with the surreptitious magic in Assassin, and the way it bewildered everyone who wasn't looking too closely. Getting too used to it in Darkweaver just set me up to be surprised that no one looking for the guild had thought of it.
The fights in Assassin are great, a good mix of styles and scenarios, and some amusing lucky moments.
My favorite is still Bek v Serrius though.

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

Short and Sweet Answer - well not necessarily sweet but:

The Imperial Series get the gold sorry to all those who lost out. It seems more realistic and colder so much more evilerest. - whoops... huge typo im going to do NOTHING about.
The imperial Series was - and of course - still is more realistic and the better read; however, the Darkweaver series sets the scene for the Imperial series and still is a must read.

Construtive Criticism - I know what im talking about...?

- One critical point i have on both books is that you take to log to write them

(note: Keep up the great work)

Taking longer to write a book means you get a better book
well, not always, but you get the idea.
Imperial in the lead by 1 vote!

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

It'll always be Darkweaver for me, mostly for the good memories of constantly bugging and tracking Mark during the time I got them... plus, they really stick in your head - it's been a while since I last read them, but I can always remember the scene of 'freezing' time.

Re: Darkweaver or Imperial

I think they are both very good in there own way!

-Darkweaver for the magic and battles.
-Imperial for it's suspense and mystery

I'm very glad to hear that Mr Robson will be writing more about Calvyn but I also can't wait for Imperial Traitor you left so much unfinished in Imperial Assasin.
