"Macros the Black is back" What?

Hi everyone, I'm a relatively new Feist Reader and to be honest it's the first fantasy series I've gotten into since I finished all of David Eddings work up to the Saphire Rose (or was it the shining ones) when I was thirteen or fourteen.
I've read around thirteen Feist/Midkemia titles in the last two months and as a rule find them highly enjoyable and addictive.

However two of my biggest irritants with the series appear to be the handywork of Feist's Editors and publishers:

Firstly there are the insane number of spelling errors mentioned elsewhere, and secondly there is the strange misconception of whoever wrote the back cover blurb on the UK paperback editions of the Riftwar and Serpentwar series that Macros is an evil necromancer and the main villain of the piece.

Has this had anyone else shaking their metaphorical fists in the general direction of Voyager?

Nice to be here by the way.

You don't seriously think that blurb-writers actually read the books, do you?

Welcome to Chronicles, by the way. Why not post in the Introductions thread? - you'll get lots of advice. I'd believe about half of it, if I were you!

Ack, I HATE plurbs. I think they should be banned. They are so stupidly dramatic...and hardly ever even match the story inside. Hate them!

(I second the recommendation to go to introductions...you'll get lots of hellos!)

Welcome

I've also got the edition of "A Darkness At Sethanon" with the blurb:
Quote:
As Prince Arutha and his companions rally their forces for the final battle with an ancient and mysterious evil, the dread sorcerer Macros the Black has once again unleashed his dark sorcery.

I don't know how they managed to get fundamental details about the series so wrong.

Just noticed on the hardback copy of into a dark realm Magnus is attributed with having led the expedition to the Dasati world.

Ah, that was always confusing me. I thought Macros had an evil twin called Marcos or something. since both were mentioned.

Just finally got around to reading into a dark realm...after the fan con i had prepared my self for what raymond said was a much darker book...so i was a bit shocked to find myself laughing at many many bits in the book...the only shock was the return of macros...

have to say the 3 boys Jommy etc... remind me of the early books with jimmy the hand!!

i think thats what he was aiming for, as everyone loved Jimmy so he added them as an homage.

anyway i hav got the Riftwar blurb in question as im from the UK and i agree about getting everything wrong about the series.

i found it funny that with IADR the blurb said that Varen was wreaking havoc on a new world, yet all he did is kill a construct maker, the guide thingie that found the death-rift and the possible confrontation with Maranda at the end

This is something I noticed when I read Feists books too, so i tend to completely ignore the blurbs and just enter the book oblivious to the supposed plot.
