Blue Peter Book Club top read.

Just to divert traffic from the reviews thread for Imperial Assassin, I thought I'd start a place for people to get involved with this here. For those who've not noticed, Imperial Assassin has been chosen for one of the top five reads in November by the Blue Peter Book Club. This may not mean much to those outside the UK, but Blue Peter has been a British Institution on children's TV amongst children in the UK for about 40 years. It has consistently drawn huge audiences and has a massive fan base.

There is a poll running where people can vote for their favourite book of the 5 on offer. As I type this, Imperial Assassin is tied for 2nd place, with the clear leader being a title from a popular children's series (which also has a TV tie in) by Jill Murphy, called The Worst Witch.

The link for those who wish to see how the voting goes is here:

BBC*-*Blue Peter*-*November Top Five

I hope that some of you will vote for my book ... assuming you like it, of course!

Ahem...and so, I will open by the thread by saying : DOWN WITH THE WORST WITCH! Imperial Assassin will win, even if I have to go the Blue Peter studio and bang their heads together.

Bringing this over from the over thread...Let's make our own! Yeah, with people from our Chronicles community! Woo! It would be better than any silly Worst Witch programme (sorry, I hated the Worst Witch before and now I hate it even more!)

Oh...bagsy Femke, by the way!

Voted.
Assassin is on my list to books to read, still not started on it yet. But I really like Imperial Spy and I've got to say that the cover and the blurb for Assassin stand head and shoulders above anything else on that list.

Four books about youths at school doing school related things, and one book about youths infiltrating deadly assassin guilds on the orders of an Emperor to save a nation.

I know which one I'd have picked when I was a young lad!

Right, we need some serious advertising for this if we're going to take down the Worst Witch (seriously, who keeps voting for that? I'm going to hunt them down and shove something worthwhile into their hands to read. Tut (Yes, I really do hate the worst witch!))

Now, now, Hoopy, just because she voted for the Worst Witch doesn't mean she is to be ritually burned at the stake, or subjected to the ducking stool. However, I might consider giving her a spell in the stocks, if you're so minded.

There might be a teensy weensy problem there, though - she's a queen and we're peasants ... at least, I am, or so I've been told. I come from a long line of sheep rustlers and extortionists, many of whom were hung for their crimes. I'm not quite sure how this great family background will help me in this case. Unless, of course, I were to mistake her for a sheep ...

Oh, but it's so tempting! *Sigh* all right, I'll save that for another day. The stocks sound like a nice punishment though. *Snort* Worst Witch indeed. *Wanders away mumbling bitterly*

Mark, while I haven't yet read Imperial Assassin, I want to be supportive. Good luck, man.

*quickly hexes other books before marking her vote*

Re: Blue Peter Book Club top read.

Thanks, everyone. I see the gap has closed slightly and that Assassin has jumped clear into second place on its own. Just that Wicked Worst Witch to catch! It's nice to see that the gap has narrowed - I thought she'd be unnassailable by now.
