Talking Dr Who wins top 3 "National TV Awards"

This evening, and for the second year in a row, Doctor Who has won all three of the main National Television Awards in the UK. Tennant for Best Actor, Piper for Best Actress, and Dr Who for Best Drama. Despite the awards ceremony happening over the past couple of hours, it doesn't get televised until tomorrow evening, showing at primetime on the BBC's rival channel ITV. The awards are voted for by the public.

Who votes for these things? I didn't!

I avidly watch Doctor Who and love it, but I would hesitate to say it was the best thing on TV. On the other hand, it doesn't have a huge amount of competition does it? Everything else is some kind of reality TV, there is very little drama. I heard that Noel Edmonds got an award for 'Deal or No Deal'. I just don't get that quiz programme, it's more tedious than playing 'backwards bingo', and that takes the shine off any award 'Doctor Who' has won.

As someone who watches little or no television at all I'm very glad for Dr Who having won as it is one of the few things I do watch. A friend in the UK tapes all the episodes and sends them along to me. Hooray for the Dr.

Dr Who has been going for a long long long long time - well he would do, wouldn't he - he's a time lord. Anyway, it's about time it did well at an awards ceremony. Well done all at Dr Who. Congratulations.

Seriously? A host of Deal or No Deal? I don't get it either.
I don't think it takes the shine off the Dr Who award. I think "Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster that something worthy has placed itself in the way of this arbitrary award!"

Sorry, I think I was in a bad mood when I posted that earlier. It deserves the award if voted for by the general public, rather than industry lovies, and two years in a row is incredible. Even more incredible how popular it is now compared to the days when it was axed.

It's getting embarrassing now: twenty-six-years of classic Who and not one award; two years of New Who ... how many awards is that, now?!

Aw, I'm very glad...I do love Dr Who...Can't wait until the Christmas Special....Catherine Tate! I laughed so loudly at the end of the last series when she randomly turned up in the Tardis! Love her, love David Tennent...genius.
Ahem...anyway...awards...yes...Wahey!

I am happy to hear the news, naturally. The honors are well deserved.
