The answer is within itself. A riddle.

Re: Riddle/puzzle game

I found another one!

As a whole, I am both safe and secure.
Behead me, and I become a place of meeting.
Behead me again, and I am the partner of ready.
Restore me, and I become the domain of beasts.
What am I?

Close!

I think, so I am depressed - so I think I'll have another drink!

(free translation - my old Latin master would not have been impressed!)

Re: Riddle/puzzle game

Sorry, got distracted!

Try this:

Four jolly men sat down to play,
And played all night till break of day.
They played for cash and not for fun,
With a separate score for every one.
When it came time to square accounts,
they all had made quite fair amounts.
Now, not one has lost and all have gained -
Tell me now, this can you explain?

Re: Riddle/puzzle game

I could only suggest that each found something different valuable.
Perhaps they were wagering their wives

Re: Riddle/puzzle game

Nope: read it carefully, looking at the meanings of the words!

Re: Riddle/puzzle game

Makes me wonder if this game is metaphorical... the word "score" is unusual in the context of playing for cash. It sounds more musical.

D'oh... music...

A band?
