| I have just finished reading Fools Fate and found the Death of Nighteyes to be extremely emotional for me. I did have asoft spot for him due to his special connection with fitz but still i found the way hobb wrote it into the book to be truely amazing. The communication between them in the final dream was amazing and i didnt really know it was coming untill he work up. Sooo sad!! but amazing at the same time. How does everyone else feel about this part of the series? Last edited by dwndrgn : 28th October 2006 at 03:01 PM. |

| Re: Nighteyes Death Hi Idioteque04 I have to agree I didn't see it coming and I was devesated. I actually put the book down and sat and hugged my dog for about half and hour. I have to say I preferd Nighteyes to Fitz, who I always thought was a bit wet. Just as a point, I am absolutely useless at the technical issues on this site, but I believe if you are going to post up something that "lets the cat out of the bag" on a storey you are supposed to put up a spoilers notice. Not sure if it would apply in this case but wouldn't like anyone to find out nighteyes dies at this point when they're only on book 1 of the whole series. |

I am sure if any kind modorater is looking on they might be able to do it. I'd say it was tough anyway. People should have read the books quicker, then it wouldn't be a surprise. ![]()

| Re: Nighteyes *spoiler alert* I was pretty sad about Nighteyes too. He was just great. The whole "Pack" running joke they sort of had always made me laugh. Plus, he was really endearing, definitely the better half of the Fitz-Nighteyes act. |

| Re: Nighteyes *spoiler alert* I loved Nighteyes. Fitz was kind of annoying, but Nighteyes was soooo sweet. I agree, he was definitely the better half. When he died I cried so hard I had to change my top because it was wet. |

| Re: Nighteyes *spoiler alert* I didn’t see Nighteyes’ death coming as well; though I knew that he is old and eventually would die, but I never thought it would have happened there and then. I got upset because Fitz and Nighteyes had this really special bond and it hurt Fitz and through him, hurt me. Like the Fool, I believe that we loved Nighteyes through Fitz and while reading the other two books in the series I was secretly wishing that Nighteyes would somehow come back alive…it never happened. |

| Re: Nighteyes *spoiler alert* While Nighteyes was very cool, I liked him better when he was young and with Fitz in the last 2 "Assassin" books but I still took it as a shock and was very sad. I always sorta thought he would die in that series, he was getting very old for a wolf. |

But i, too, was sad when Nighteyes died. I didn't really know what was happening at the time, and it dawned on me about the same time Fitz realised what was happening and i was like "nooo!!!!" ![]() Robin Hobb is one of the only authors that has actually made me cry reading her books. And she is the only one that has made me cry more than once, in separate books. of course she also made me laugh out loud at times such a great author.

| Re: Nighteyes *spoiler alert* Nighteyes is so amazing its not even funny! His death was another tragic reason I love the series. Not that I wanted him to die! It was just so....... epic. That last dream where he said something like "I'll always be running in front of you brother..." [not sure havn't read in a while... ] it was incredible I thought. |
