| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One I thought this was a stronger episode than the first, by actually having a plot, but there needs to be more in each as we go on. A bit of a cliched start with how the alien was released, but the rest got better. And what a way to die... |

Why not? The "Outer Limits" did the exact same episode in the 90's with Alyssa Milano and of course there was "Species" the movie which had a similar plot. No nipples or anything were shown although there was a couple of good one liners "He came and he went" and the Gwen made some knob joke about puttin gout an APB. I thought this was a weaker episode than the pilot as it was a complete rip off of other shows. The interplay with Capt Jack and Gwen is ok, but the others are pretty anonymous. Next weeks looks ok from the trailer. *fingers crossed*

| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One I pretty much agree with you Lucien in that it was a bit of a rip-off and not a very original plot. I remember feeling outraged when I read the synopsis in the TV mag. Why oh why do they have to put sexual content in Sci-fi stuff just because they want it to be more "adult"? That really gave me the hump with the Outer Limits actually. But, in this case, it was fine. Sexual references were there but there was nothing out of order - hats off to them for that. Still have high hopes for the next episodes. |

| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One i hope it grows, it still seemed a bit 'dr who'ish to me. with sequels, i prefer them when they shake off the parent program and grow on their own. alos watched the torchwood declassified (my son has a cold, i was up laaaaaaaaattttttteeeeeeeeeee), which included lots of back slapping, i always wish i could make those writers, patting their backs at their originality, read this sort of thread in which it becomes patently obvious that they are walking well worn paths. |

, but yeah, will we next have some xena'ish character popping by in tight leather, cause of course, sci-fi / fantasy has to have scantily clad females as well!

| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One I know Outer Limits did a similiar thing but it still is beyond what I call good entertainment, even for scifi. Nothing personal, but that is just too far out for my tastes. I knew Torchwood would be darker and have more adult themes, but that one episode is not going to be typical of the series, I hope, or I definitely will not be investing my time in it. I am just not that interested in overt sexual themes in the things I watch. |

| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One actually I would say its not one to watch with the children. Adults is another matter. But anyways I didnt mean any offense If I caused any....I could have worded it differently.... |

| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One I thought it was weaker than the first episode. They should have explored Gwen's interaction with her police partner, and her boyfriend more, and her guilt at being responsible for the aliens release. |

| Re: Torchwood: 1.02: Day One I wouldn't watch it with my son if he were younger but he's a grown up now. It's nice to have a scifi that does cater for the adults, although it's a shame it always comes back to sex. |
