Lynching

I think it's only fair to change the constitution where it claims it's ok to lynch people in an extremely painful way if they misspel Tolkien into Tolkein.

Re: Lynching

there are a lot of good reasons to lynch people. Sadly none will stand up in court.

Re: Lynching

Tolkien himself complained about that in a letter written to Richard Jeffrey in 1972:

This occured even in his late years, after achieving worldwide fame. Incredible.

I'm all for it. As long as we also get to lynch the uber-purists.

Re: Lynching

Could always bring back the original hanging methods. Impaled on a stake (or was it a steak?) through the stomach.

Re: Lynching

Err Joel, it wasn't the stomach, they made use of an existing orifice. It may be the origin of; "I'll tell you where to stick it."

Re: Lynching

The original Israeli method was through the stomach, using a beam from the criminal's house I think. Although it's probably not the sort of thing I can get away with looking up while at work
