Genetic link to autism

Seems that more and more is coming out of the field of genetics that's going to be of immense benefit ... and here they were cautioning us when they broke the code that we'd not be seeing anything much until 2050.....

Re: Genetic link to autism

I personally thinks it has to do with a comdinations of those genes being passed down more then ever before and envirnenmental conditions... I read somewhere that allergies and kids have increased more and more due to the excessive cleaness of children now things like kids not playing outside as much as young children and things like that

JD: Neat article again...

Re: Genetic link to autism

They are finding that people with Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome may have a genetic predisposition for it as well. There is something genetically different about their Immune System response. Very interesting stuff.

Re: Genetic link to autism

Dustie: Yes. Extremely ... interesting, at least. Part of it, as Carrie notes, may be the change in our exposure to a natural environment. Part of it may be things that we're only able now to diagnose because of what we've learned, or things that were misdiagnosed in the past. And part of it may be a subtle shift in our own makeup due to change in diet, use (or overuse) of medications, change in hygiene, etc., etc., etc. In other words, by the advances we've made, we may actually be preventing the "natural culling" (though that sounds cruel) of those human beings prone to such problems (I've a feeling, by the way, I'd be one that would, in earlier ages, have been culled.)
