We've run out of Threads

I think we need ADWD to come out already. WE seem to have run out of topics for the Threads.

A Dance with Dragons (ADWD), the next book in the A Song of Ice and Fire (ASOIF) series by George RR Martin (GRRM). Yes we do have our little acronyms in this group...welcome and great name by the way.

Ohhhh...a virgin....

you are entering a new world my friend and I hope you are ready for the BEST fantasy series out there. It will ensorcel you like it has the rest of us. After the second chapter of A Game of Thrones, I was hooked like a crack addict.

Stop ready the threads and just devote the next few weeks to reading the 4 available books and we hope to see you back soon.

Re: We've run out of Threads

I'm on it, I have been pushed toward GRRM alot since my birth in this forum. You will be hearing from me in short order.

So start with a Game of Thrones you would suggest? I notice he has a large Bibliography!!

The ASOIF reading list (so far):

A Game of Thrones
A Clash of Kings
A Storm of Swords
A Feast for Crows

There are also two novellas you can read after you've finished the main series.

A Dance with Dragons should be out sometime in 2007.

Re: We've run out of Threads

First allow me to enlighten you to the rules of the GRRM forums

1. No making fun of Georgies weight. Sure he could put a piece of pizza down and get the book at sooner, but it wouldnt have the same impact

2. Boaz isnt allowed to call you an idiot for 18 posts. I think thats the number, but if he calls you an idiot on your 4th post it must be 4....and if he hasnt called you an idiot yet the number is higher...just wait for it.

3. No political crap. No matter how wrong you are keep it to yourself.

4. Dont poke the Tree (Re: The Smiling Weirwood) You wont like him when he's angry. And by poking I mean dont misspell anything.

5. Dolorous Edd is the funniest character ever. Any dissenting opinon will get you eaten by vegetarian pygmies...dont ask, it isnt pleasant.

6. Oh, and anything else I say later

Thanks
Aegon the Unfunny

In regards to your question, I recommend the Wild Card series if youre into the Superhero genre. Complicated characters with interesting powers....its splendiforous....

Outside of that I have read nothing by Martin save the Dunk and Egg short stories...theyre in comic book format so I dont know if that would be your thing. But at least its interesting to see the forefathers of the current crop Westerosi hero...

Aegon, the most unworthy is witty but wrong on most things

Beware the Raven and Werthead as these creatures of the night know too much about ASOIF

And I hope you've read Shogun...
