Ah, Gorram it!!!!!!! Well, Joss Whedon has officially confirmed that there will never be a sequel to Serenity! Here is a direct quote from the article,"Serenity" Sequels = No Chance To those 2-3 fans holding out hope, I'm afraid they've been dashed. Writer/director Joss Whedon has finally confirmed that there will never be a "Serenity" sequel writes Slashfilm. "There's no sequel, no secret project regarding Serenity or somesuch and I'm not even sure how anyone thought there was talk there. So let's put that to bed and smother it with a pillow" says Whedon. Serenity was a 2005 science fiction western film set in the universe of the cancelled Fox television series "Firefly". Including it's home video release, "Serenity" has still yet to come close to earning back it's $39 million budget. And here is the link: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news06/061004c.php Well, the only continuation we'll get are the upcoming comics co-written by Whedon himself. Look at the bright side, its better that we have at least one great film, as oppose to several sequels that sucks. Plus, the all the actors will never be typecast and are already doing other projects. More power to them. Its time to rev up those Firefly/Serenity DVDs and watch them again. I for one am definitely looking forward to getting the comics myself and can't wait to find out what happens after the events of Serenity. Shiny. Whitestar

Re: Ah, Gorram it!!!!!!! This is a little surprising as he seemed quite keen on more feature length stories. He didn't give up this easily on the series. Maybe he feels satisified enough now that Serenity has been made?

Re: Ah, Gorram it!!!!!!! Well, PTeppic, that is a relief. (So it all comes down to turnip smell, eh?) Except I'm confused about something: the date at the bottom of the page with the "Joss misquoted" post is December 2005.

There might still be a chance... I can live in hope once again. (Of course I am also living in hope that Joss will make a Giles movie...) ![]() | |

Re: Ah, Gorram it!!!!!!! Franky, it's most likely that Firefly/Serenity will be continued as a comic book/graphic novel. Joss Whedon has been doing a lot in that medium lately. Not only has he done a 24-25 issue arc as the writer of the "Astonishing X-Men" title, but he is also working on the eight season of Buffy in that format. Given these trends I think that a continuation in that form is probably most likely. -Thinbalion

Re: Ah, Gorram it!!!!!!! Maybe so, Thinbalion, since he's already done the graphic novel Serenity: Those Left Behind, filling in some of the events between the end of the series and the movie Serenity.
