Re: Worst Doctor? Jon Pertwee was the only Doctor my mum likes. It's getting to the stage whereby DT's gonna be my least fave. PLEASE stop the 'feelings' stuff and get on with the time travel!

Re: Worst Doctor? I think it wasn't so much the actors playing the doctor but the fact the Beeb lost interest in it, after all taking it off saturday evenings and then putting it on in the week against Coronation Street hardly helped it.

Re: Worst Doctor? Peter Davidson: WORST DOCTOR EVER. He was far too nice to be the Doc. Blonde and bland and not a patch on Tom Baker. At least Colin Bakers' loudmouth braggart made some kind of impression on me, which more than Doc 5 managed. This may sound odd given that most of his Episodes were rotten, but I think McCoy’s Doctor had the potential to be the best Doctor of all. I loved the dark, godlike, manipulative turn he took towards the end of the show. (Remembrance of the Dalek’s and especially Curse of Fenric.) and they carried that theme on in some of the Virgin New Adventures. I think I find darker Doctors much more interesting than friendly doctors and I really hope the next Doctor is far darker and more manipulative than the last two. I liked Eccleston, and Tennent, but they’re just a little bit too chummy for me. I’ve always had the pet theory that the Doctor is potentially far crueller and more evil than the Master, but the Doctor keeps himself in check and the Master does not. I actually think my perfect Doctor would end up being pretty much like Dr House, from the TV show of the same name. In fact, Hugh Laurie craggy, stubble chinned sardonic House is almost the perfect Doctor already. Just give the man a sonic screwdriver and a TARDIS. Plus, can you see House taking even an ounce of lip from Catherine Tate? ![]() Last edited by Coolhand; 5th July 2007 at 11:46 AM.

Re: Worst Doctor? The Peter Davidson era had a lot of really, really good stories and established some of the myth. I know he was quite unpopular - an embnarrassing no show of hands when the same question was asked at a DW Convention he was attending - but I think he had a tough act to follow (Tom Baker). I lost track of the series soon after that - BBC scheduling was very unkind and I think I started working nights or something - so I only have a vague recollection of McCoy and Colin Baker, but the latter impressed me far less than the former. Worst DW? Paul McGann - not because he was bad, but because the story was woeful. He's very good on BBC7.

Re: Worst Doctor? I'm sorry but any doctor wearing question marks for me...it looks like a dodgy Riddler, i know its to emphasis the mystery around this person...but I feel that this should be achieved through an air rather than a dodgy and rather camp outfit. i would say that tom baker, christopher eccleston and david tennant are my favourite 3. im unsure on Paul McGann, i find him quite difficult to like.

Re: Worst Doctor? Lets face it Tom Baker was beloved, any person following him was just in for a very nasty time - so Colin baker... he had to play it very different to tom so therefor was the "nasty" doctor... Have to say Chris played a nasty doctor far better... But Colin bakers doctor was my least favourite, not becasue he played a snobish doctor - but that he just didnt have any likable qualities at all in his character - I think sylvestor Mcoy was considered on of the worst by sheer fact that by time he had taken on the mantle of the doctor the budgets ran to about the cost of a chewing gum wrapper and the script writers where phoning it in... Still there where some interesting things in the McCoy episodes like the inference he wasnt actually a renegade timelord - till this point we'd all started to believe he was actually rassalon but hey ho Theres a very serious chance that This is davids last series - I think I remember reading a blog someplace that confired he was only going to do three series so the race will be on for the next doctor I guess... some poor bugger gets to try to upstage david - though (and I know this is going to get some grief) I still prefer Chris in the role over David - for me possibly the best doctor (and yes I was around in the tom baker years)

Re: Worst Doctor? I vote for McCoy as worst Doctor, too. But he was an even worse Fool in the King Lear at Stratford with Ian McKellen in the title role. McCoy played the spoons all the time, which made his lines almost impossible to hear! Mary

Re: Worst Doctor? Mmmm, I remeber him from a Secret Policmans Ball, hammering a nail up his nose! McCoy had a problem, the Beeb were turning it into a light entertainement show. Only the last season was worth watching, I recently saw "Survival" and was amazed at the depth of the story. With a decent budget and writing McCoy could have been one of the best but as the beeb were very anti SCI-Fi at the time (many at the beeb still turn their noses up at it I suspect) it suffered from a lack of both!

Re: Worst Doctor? I agree with several of you i.e. the show (including bad Doctor Sylvester McCoy) took an upturn just as it was cancelled. Despite having only seen "The Curse of Fenric" once, when it aired years ago, I can still remember it quite strongly. Having said that about McCoy, my least favourite Doctor was Colin Baker - he really played the Time-lord as quite arrogant and unlikeable.

My Worst Doctor is No7 Sylvester McCoy most of his stories were crap only 4 I kinda like. I consider myself a big Doctor Who Fan and have been watching since I was a Young lad. Most of his stories were poorly written and very cheaply done not like the high quality we have now with the New Series. ![]()

![]() Okay, not ALL the new eps are bad. Many are fun and some of them rock. Actually, I think Peter Cushing was the worst Doctor. William Hartnell's time lord would have eaten him alive... | |

Re: Worst Doctor? Actually I quite liked Peter Cushing's doctor. He wasn't as irascible as Hartnell, but not as clownish as Hartnell. A nice buffer between the two? Nothing wrong with the writing in the new shows that slowing down to tell a story wouldn't fix
