Confusing Order of Death

Hi All,

I noticed an inconsistancy in the books that I thought must be a typo, but then it appeared in the films too, so think it may be significant.

In all the stories of how Harry's parents are killed and in Harry's memories of the screaming, it leads us to believe that James Potter died first, then Lily, whilst she was at Harry's cot side.

However!

When the Prior Incantatum spell is used at the end of Goblet of fire, the last people killed by the wand come out in REVERSE order.
It goes: Cedric Diggory - The Old Groundsman guy - James Potter - Lily Potter!

This leads me to the conclusion that Lily died first. This now opens up a whole can of worms.

Well, its still either a mistake, or it really has some significance.
Any ideas anyone??

No, Lily came out first in the book which means she was killed last. She said to Harry as she came out something like "your father's coming, he wants to see you".

I believe that originally in GoF, it did say that James came out of the wand first. But it was just a mistake, amd was rectified in subsequent editions of the book. JK has verified that James was killed first, then Lily.

J.K. has a note about this on her site.
She wrote it correctly, then her editor thought he was smart and he 'corrected' her, after the first print they realized their mistake, and quickly undid the 'correction'.

Thanks for clearing that up, although i'm pretty sure it was in the incorrect order in the film. Maybe they were working from a 1st edition :P

Damn Editors, lol!
