Anyone See Heroes?

Heroes premier on American NBC last night. The premise was almost like a prequel to X-Men. A group of people from all over the world have started developing strange powers and abilities. They all have different problem and their just starting to understand. And there is a mysterious stranger who is somehow involved and trying to uncover their secrets. It wasn't done too badly. Held my interest. I will watch the second episode. Was much more intriguing that the other recent genre premier Jerico.

Re: Anyone See Heroes?

It was interesting and fun. There are plot holes you could drive a mobile home through, but some characters stuck out.
Hiro was the best, if not a bit overpowered.

I cant believe they wrote in a "genius child" character though. He makes Wesley Crusher seem palatable. The end sure was a surprise. Ill keep watching.

BTW I didnt catch it last night because I was tired, but the Studio 60 premier last week was very funny.

I was busy doing some other things, but I did see parts of this. Liked what I saw. I like that they used Japanese with subtitles for that part. And it had the best line I've heard in a long time.

I loved it, thought it has a lot of potential.

D@mn now I have to watch at least three shows this fall!

Hey LMA what was the line you are referring to??

Thank goodness the encore is on tonight, I missed about 10 minutes.

I also have to say that part with the girl and the mirror freaked me out.

Yes, me too. If done right that could be very interesting. Definately a "WTF?" moment.

Re: Anyone See Heroes?

I saw it, and I enjoyed it. As others here have said, I can see potential.

***spoilers****

The ongoing "we have to stop it" plot will tie various episodes together and give the characters a reason to work together. That's good; I always like shows with an arc that spans a season.

Besides the external threats the characters will no doubt encounter, they have quirks and inner demons to battle: drug addiction, sibling rivalry, geekiness, stresses of single-parenthood, having a crush on another character, and being adopted into a dysfunctional family (including an evil stepdad). The internal conflicts interest me.

Speaking of inner demons: what is going on with the woman who sees herself in mirrors and whose mirror-self turns into a killer? Is the mirror-self her dark side or something? Lots of psychological conflict potential there. Maybe she'll have to stop herself from being a villain?

And right now it has a Lost/X-Files feel, as if there's a bigger mystery to solve.

Re: Anyone See Heroes?

it started off too explainy but settled into a nice pace. I thought I saw Mirror woman's eyes turn into cats eyes sometimes but maybe that was my reception. She seems like your standard jekyl and hyde complex. I was glad the way that the flying boy story line turned out. It seems he and his brother both have gifts, only his aint flying. He did mention having some kind of empathy w/ his brother when he was in trouble. Now there is already a paint the future guy and next week there will be a mind reader guy so flying boy-not flying boy is a mystery still. He may be like a catalyst or maybe he has a little bit of everything. Maybe we can bet on the outcome. Use the board of well read sci-fi, comics etc. people to get a reading of how predictable the show is. The real mystery is weather or not the show will last to have a second season. NBC is a hazardous network for new shows and also the only network I get without cable.

Ok I've seen it now! I thought it was ok, a bit like Lost though.
I love the Japanese character Hiro, so funny!
'Use your death grip, Spock!' had me cracking up!

Re: Anyone See Heroes?

I enjoyed it and will be tuning in again next week. Did anyone else hear that 1 major character is supposed to be killed off every week? Sounds like it would be difficult to maintain a show that way unless they introduce new superhero types every week as well.

And what's with the comic book Hiro picked up? I'm thinking government conspiracy - there is always a government conspiracy.

I thought maybe the painter who sees the future created the comic to bring them together.

Why doesn't Marvel comics sue? It is so obviously a rip-off of X-men!
