I love this story. I will definitely be reading this one as soon as it is available.

I like the concept - both story and way of publication

Who needs an agent?

However, I'm sure the chief excecutive of HarperCollins is going to rue the day she released this story. She's certain to be deluged with manuscripts from hopeful young writers.

I'm sure that she now has one person to check her email and gets important email and a new address. That's what I would do ;-)

I am sure that is raising the hope of many young girls and boys and yes I am sure that email address is no longer valid

I hate to say this, but does anyone else think that the article makes it seem like they are using her to allow the company to crack another country?

Of course that will be one of their motives. No doubt about that. But they must think that enough people in China will adore the book, or that strategy wouldn't be very effective.

I suspect there is a lot of truth in that appraisal ... particularly with about a billion chinese people as yet unreached by the mighty Harper Collins. That's one heck of a new market to crack by accepting one book!

Particularly since HC is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has Big Plans with News Inc in China...

Indeed as MJrevell said. The marketing's in there.
Must be fun for the girl herself though.

If Harper Collins get into the Chinese market, we might finally get some worthwhile translated Wuxia novels. I am the only person interested I know.

My thoughts too! But until we can read it we can't really judge.
