Re: The Seven, the Seven and the Seven

Boaz, so the seven in Westeros works, but what about the others.

Old Gods and children of the forest.

Symbolism goes to the 7 but the logic (I hope) in Martins world goes to the old gods.

What makes you think I'd know what any of this means? I just a verbose, pedantic, loud, opinionated, self-righteous fan boy who likes to speculate. When you want facts and future story development go to Werthead. When you want solid analysis of character development and plot devices go to Raven. When you want technical assessment of military tactics and logistics go to Aegon.

Re: The Seven, the Seven and the Seven

My last post was the most incoherant i wrote, and my apologies.

But, I'll try to explain a bit. Boaz, I like your analogy of the 7 regarding the outcome of the Post-Tommen King of Westeros. However, in my opinion it does not necessarily also solve the issue with the Others (capital O), and the Others seem to (thus far) seem to be answered better by the children of the forest and the old Gods, than by the seven. Each theology may solve the issue that applies more to them depending on which side of the wall they are needed.

Martin doesn't seem to have a one true faith scenario (yeah logic was a horrible choice of words) as most clearly shown with the faceless men.

ermm just a thought not a manifesto

Re: The Seven, the Seven and the Seven

The theory is crazy and slightly nonsensical....but thats okay, that phrase describes Boaz almost to the letter.

Its the reach with the Kingsguard that does ya in.

Problem is I dont see it as a struggle between the Seven and House Targ. Those are the Targs deities as well right?

Maybe, the Seven has/have withdrawn divine favor from the Targs. Each Chinese dynasty claimed to have divine favor ie. The Mandate of Heaven. Perhaps, the Targs really lost their heavenly mandate.

I might just adopt this as my sig.

Posting drunk may not be my problem, reading posts while drunk may be the problem...

Btw, I made up all that stuff about Neil Diamond and the number seven...

Also, I like the way you guys can joke around and not take this banter personally.

Merry Christmas to all!

Regarding Neil Diamond: "It is known"

He is all three heads of the dragon.
