New Generation of SFF Readers?

The Fun Day Fairies

At a bookshop in Rockingham Western Australia, fairy dust was sprinkled around, turning young children into fairies and princesses for Rainbow Magic Funday.

Complete with face painting, the Fairy Funday party marked the launch of the sixth series of Rainbow Magic books The Fun Day Fairies, written by Daisy Meadows.

Each story includes the same human characters, Rachel and Kirsty but a different fairy. The girls rely on the fairies’ help with their latest adventure.

The Fun Day Fairy books were held back until September 9th, so that fairy fans who attended the parties were the first people in Australia to read them.

Each participant received a certificate of attendance and an activity book as well as exclusive entry in a competition to appear as a character in the next Rainbow Magic series.

What a wonderful way in which to encourage young children to read and to continue the fantasy of magic and fairies.

That definitely sounds like fun Rosie and a great way to get children reading too. I'd have gone along and gotten face painted and all. The books sound intriguing. I just Googled them. Very colourful.

Went along once when Waterstones in Leeds was doing a special promotion of the Paddington Books. All the staff had blue coats and red hats on and they had a picnic with marmalade sandwiches.

sounds creepy, but then most things do unless you remember that the kids are probably enjoying it.

Well speaking of having your face painted I went to the last two events for the release of the Harry Potter books and I did everything that the little kids did and was proud of it from getting my face painted to making a wand.

It also helped that the at least half of the people doing all of these activities were adults not kids.

Re: Update on Fun Day Fairies

Just thought I would let you know that six of Daisy Meadow's 'Fun Day Fairies' books are currently in the top twenty best sellers, here in Western Australia.

Seems to me, I shall have to take a look at these delightful books which are doing so well. I can think of four Granddaughters who will enjoy reading these books...
