I think that's a bit along the lines of Dany and her dragons, though. Thoros and Beric did not do it all on their own. It wasn't innate badassness. It was badassness given by a god or demigod. They're just badass by association.

Re: ASOIAF badass

The Red Viper reminds me of Scatman Crothers' character from Kubrick's version of King's The Shining. All that time spent getting him there and when he finally gets center stage: **whack** an axe in the back.

I think Gregor could have just said "your shoe's untied" or "ooohh so shiny!" and whacked the Viper when he looked.....
**not** ABA

The ultimate undeniable ASOIAF baddass: Balerion <sp?>. The dragon, not the kitten. Although, having once had a kitten stick its claw up my nose, I wouldn't be so quick to discount him ;-)

Re: ASOIAF badass

Dead though he may be, for true badassness and general no messing Jack Baueresque do-whats-gotta-be-done attitude, my vote is with Quorin Halfhand.

Livin in the North, beyond the wall where the real s*** goes down, thats were a man learns just how bad his ass can be. Didn't he sort of let Jon kill him - now there's one fearless chappy. (Even if Quorin does always remind me of "Quorn" - you know that fake meat stuff, not exactly very badass)

Re: ASOIAF badass

The biggest badass of them all is Robert Baratheon, when he was fighting on the Trident.

An armoured man-mountain ripped like hell, with a massive rack of antlers on his head!!
And a bad-ass mace..

Yes, Robert was a total badass then.

But for me, it's still the Hound.

Sandor is probably one of my top 5 characters.

( i can't narrow my fav. character list more than that)

Re: ASOIAF badass

Badass? Hmmm. Let's see. About seven and a half feet tall, brings terror by the very mention of his name(to most), and, with a poisoned spear buried in him, grabbed the gloating owner of said spear and beat him to death with his (mailed) bare hands.

Sound like anybody we know?

Heh. I'll put MY ex-wife against YOUR ex-wife any time you like! In fact, if yours is the Mountain, mine does share a lot of qualities with the Red Viper....
Hmmm...
