I was surprised to see your name mentioned among the contributors - needless to say I'm going to have to reserve a copy of the book.

Yes it's one of mine.

Actually, Nic, it's not quite 'The Chalice' story that you know. I expanded it for the anthology. It's just over double the length of the one you've seen. It's also been adapted to a SF theme set in a futuristic society. However, the thrust and twists are pretty much the same. Why change what's not broken?

As a point of interest, the book will be a very limited edition (only 500 copies) signed by all of the contributing authors and the artist. There are lots of well known writers in there - I'll put a list up when we get closer to the time, along with details of how you can secure a copy. I believe the price will be £9.99.

That anthology sounds very interesting! I think the word "limited" caught my attention! I do enjoy short stories, and an anthology of them, complete with all the contributing authors signatures, is very alluring. I shall be keeping a keen eye out for when you write up the details!

Hi Bookstop, just a minor point, but it was actually me that put the advert on Afterburn, not Ian Watson... though I'm sure Ian would have done so if he had the chance. I can also confirm that the revamped version of Mark's The Chalice is excellent, as are all eight stories in the anthology... well, seven of them at least -- if you discount my own humble offering. Of course, as the editor of Time Pieces, I might be a tad biased, but what the heck?

Ah - yes, well I'm sure you've noticed we have some minor name dyslexia issues occasionally at afterburn. I did know it was you and not Ian. It was even a surprise to me that I typed Watson as I was sure I typed Whates.

I've already reserved a copy of the anthology and look forward to reading all eight stories (humble offerings though some might claim to be).

Hi dwndrgn (hope Mark doesn't object to my answering this one), with the book coming out in such a limited edition -- just 500 -- it will not be available via any of the usual retail outlets in the USA, however it can be ordered from the website to be sent anywhere in the world. The cost of shipping will be quoted on the website ahead of the book's official release in November. I hope that helps.
