Re: Best Female Singer? Alison Moyet is one of my favourite female singers of all time. Growing up, my dad always put on a lot of Patsy Cline so I guess I have a soft spot for her voice. In terms of more modern music, I really like Duffy's voice (although Mercy is quite possibly the most overplayed, overhyped song of the year), Amy Winehouse and Regina Spektor. I also listen to a lot of symphonic metal and my favourite voice here would have to be Simone Simons of Epica; her range is phenomenal.

Re: Best Female Singer? One of my favorite female singers that hasn't been mentioned yet is Elaine Paige. She is a Broadway star, not a recording artist, but I have loved every performance I have seen of her. Her best known role is as the original Grisabella of "Cats" and she reprised that role for the movie version. Among her many other roles, she also played in "Evita" and completely blows Madonna away. I wish she was in that movie. Some of her live performances can be found on youtube.

Re: Best Female Singer? Best female singer to me is Billie Holliday. She had a voice that you could feel vibrating from the MP3,cd player to your body. Her sad, slow songs are great. There are only two others i would choose as the best if there werent Billie. That would be Dusty Springfield and Tracy Chapman. First time i heard Duffy i thought she was a black female singer with her voice. So funny with the hole Blue-eyed soul term they used with artist like her sing soul,R&B.
