oooooh has anyone mentioned martha wainwright? im pretty sure someone has, but just incase i'll do it again. wonderful voice. and her brother isnt bad either (rufus wainwright)

Female singers outnumber males in my collection by about 10 to 1, so I'll have to pick more than 1. My favourites are:

Patty Griffin
Sarah McLachlan
Joni Mitchell
Judy collins
Sandy Denny

And so many more it's unreal.

Two newer singers I like: KT Tunstall has a great voice and sounds a little bit like Missy Higgins (without the twang).

Amy Lee, Shirly Manson, Alison Goldfrapp, Maggie Reilly...Ummm....That wench from the PussycatDolls is pretty alright...I've heard the album far too many times (thank you darling... :-( ...) and I've got to admit she's pretty damn good...
