People talk about the genius of the man. He had one idea; a hacked lotr set in space. Granted he did an amazing job with the special effects etc but 30 years on George Lucas' catalogue of films stand testament to the resounding fact that the greedy bearded fool is a one trick pony.

You may not be serious about hating him for making money, but many people are. It is the same thing with JK Rowling. It's pure jealousy. Hate him for Jar Jar Binks, but not for being successful.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

If I was to speak seriously, I'd have to say the man is more than a genius at making money. Thirty years ago he did something that no one else did, or could do. He didn't do it alone, but that's beside the point. It isn't as if he didn't work hard in doing it.

How many genius classical music composers, that we all know about who lived hundreds of years ago, made everything up that they composed from scratch, and emulated no one?

Most of the greats changed music in someway, just as George Lucas changed films to a greater degree than most of the filmmakers to come along for the last fifty years.

He has all that money, first and foremost, because he had good ideas, same as Mozart and Beethoven, although George Lucas was very crafty in making certain that no one ripped him off for all of it.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

Yes he has made quite a lot of money from the whole franchise not to mention the Indy movies and THX and lucasarts etc. etc. but you would not think that to look at the man. I mean he has always appeared humble in nature. He is also not cheap as I heard after ANH or TESB came out and made bucoo money and everything was paid off he shared a huge sum off the profits with everybody who had a hand in making the movies, and I'm not talking about the actors, I mean the people behind the camera. So say what you will about the content of his movies, but the man is alright in my eyes. I don't think he can draw much beyond stick figures as I've seen, but he does have one hell of an imagination and knows how to get others around him to translate that to literacy. And as for copying, everybody copies ideas. Star Wars had so much unique creativity to it in a story that has been told a thousand times before, and people still don't get it.

On another quick note, I think that was the devils second greatest accomplishment. The first is getting everyone to believe in God but at the same time in their worship of Him blame Him for all the bad in the world. Also, Mozart and Beethoven lived more than 125 years ago and their music still lives on. Even if I'm the only one, I'll still watch Star Wars a thousand years from now. I just better make sure I always transfer it to the newest media out!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but SW is the biggest independent set of films ever. Lucas had a lot of money before doing SW.

I just Hope they make 7,8,9 I have read the books that I think would be the movies, I'm not sure but I think they are in the thrawn trilogy. I mean Luke=almost dark side, Maras= Her big Appearance. It talks about how the old republic had a plan for travels to other galaxies using Jedi Masters...And many many more.

Daid, sorry to disappoint you but he isn't going to make 7,8 and 9. He said that in an Aussie interview.

The TV series is a road to failure I can tell you that.

You'd have thought that with all the money he's got, he could have afforded to hire a scriptwriter....

SW is the biggest independent film ever made. Well the first three anyway. I wish I was alive when they came out

i just read back a bit and realised the below has been said in less words lol:

i know this is from an old post, but i remember him saying somewhere that he'd never ever do ep1, 2, 3 but he did...so i say give it 10 years at least and he'll go..."i know ill ruin the saga even more by making eps 7, 8, 9....21, 22, etc" all starring mark hamill as he has no other work

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

the first 6 movies complete the story of Anakin Skywalker. With a complete story, set in motion picture form, under his belt, it is highly unlikely George Lucas will do more.

Certainly episode 3 wasn't the end of his Star Wars projects, but as far as movies go, it's a good bet that he won't make anymore under that title.

Re: After Lucas dies, do you think they'll be more Star Wars?

First off, welcome back, C of K, it's been a while. Then again, besides ruffeling a few feathers in the world affairs thread and a few other posts, I've not posted much either. Digression complete. Yes, Anakin Skywalker's story is complete. The Sith (or bad Jedi) are gone, and the Force is back in balance except in the EU. Episodes 7,8, and 9 are urban legends. I did read or hear an interview with George Lucas where he said movie blockbusters will be a thing of the past someday soon considering cost versus profit, and he seems to have always been keen on entertainment marketing trends. He did go on to say if he were to go into the story in the same format as episodes one through six, he would be interested in a story involving a young Yoda when the Jedi first splintered apart, kind of a Knights of the Old Republic thing and I think that would be incredibly interesting myself. While I'm sure many would scoff at the idea of a prequel to a prequel, I really want to know how one of the most entertaining, creative, fun, inspiring stories in my life had it's start. Again, we are put into a story that already has a background somewhat established and Star Wars (and life) begs for the answers of why, why did certain Jedi rebel, why did they digress from the order, just as why did humans first digress are questions I find intriging. Whether it is on the really big screen or just a big screen, personally I hope he follows this part of the story for his own satisfaction and those others who would enjoy it too! The Phantom Menace through Return of the Jedi could then be episodes one through six, book two. Hey Mr. Lucas, what do you think?
